So i have a question, in "you make the call," the question i want to know has been asked but it resulted in alot of back and forth and no real answer, so my question to you guys in the introthread is what is the thing to do here? do i repost the question linking to the prevois thread>? should i not ask the question at all? the post is a month dead should i post in it or is it to far gone?

I have a specific statement about the rule that I want to see if other people think it is true/false, also i know i shouldnt post the specifics here as this isnt the you make the call section XD what should i do?

The other thing is, its 6 pages of 3 people basically saying the same 3 things over and over again, and my... aspect of the question is rather detatched from where the thread has currently spiraled into

Just start a new thread, possibly with more exact wording. Maybe make mention of the old questions.

Sometimes it's easier to ask forgiveness than it is permission. Most dakka mods seem fair.

If the previous thread has been inactive for more than a week or two, it's generally ok to start a new thread... threads inactive for that long drop off the front page fairly quickly, and we don't expect everyone to troll back too far looking for similar discussions.

If there is an issue with the new thread (we sometimes impose a 'cooling off' period on particularly contentious topics, for example) we'll lock the thread and let you know why.

As said, open a new thread if the old has been dead for a month or more. Post a link to the old thread if you think it'll help.

But, re-word it, and post the basic arguments people have raised to prevent the same thing happening.
