So I'm thinking I want to run this list:

37 ghouls (one is a crypt ghast)

vampire w/ shield + heavy armour
vampire w/ shield + heavy armour


I've never really used named characters before (usually just a master necromancer and some vampires or a vamp lord and some necromancers, depending on the points), and I thought it'd be fun to try. They'd go in the ghoul unit, the vampires would each go in a zombie unit (invocation of nehek FTW).

My main question is if I should be running a mortis engine instead of one of the terrorgheists... can't do all 3 coz I'm over my rares limit.

Any thoughts on that, or using the characters?

I am only commenting on this because you are running special characters, they are over priced for what they do and you can easily make a basic Vampire lord just as killy (if not more) for less points, with that said I thin its fantastic that you are running the dreaded vampire couple as the fluff for them is a work of art as for how effective it is, I have never seen anyone run if so I don't know.

Regardless I hope you do well and maybe change the opinion of these two very cool vampires at your FLGS!

Well, I ran the list, although with 1 mortis engine instead of the second terrorgheist because I don't have 2 TG models. Vlad and isabella worked ok, but my main downfall was just having so few bodies... I think next time I'm going to spend a bit less on characters and more on ghouls, although it could just be because I was up against skaven.
