So, this is kind of embarrassing but I've mentioned before that I don't really know how to use the Subscribed Threads feature, and still don't

When I click on the "Subscribed" button, I just see every thread listed that I've posted in. When I click "Subscribe" at the bottom of any particular thread, it doesn't seem to do anything to this list.

How do people use this feature, could you please explain it to me? Be sure to use small words... thanks

For reference, I usually am having to scroll through a subforum to find the threads I'm interested in, or do a search. Now that I'm on a painting marathon, I'm looking to save time and only track a few key threads, which seems to be what this feature is for... but again, I just see every thread I've posted in atm, which isn't very helpful.

This also makes it hard to track threads in the P&M Blog section, where I'm trying to shift my attention to as I push through this painting project. Those threads aren't always updated as frequently and thus drop off the front page, making them hard to track. So, help!

The subscribed button at the bottom of threads does add them to that list.

Basically, I use subscribed threads to manage my posting on the site.
Most of my time is spent clicking subscribed threads and then going to first unread when I see someone has replied.

The most important first step is to go in there and click the checkbox next to anything you don't want to track and then delete them (using the button at the top bottom).

I try to keep my subscribed page down to 1 page or less.

This is perfect for P&M threads because they show up on your subscribed page even if they fell off the sub-forum.

Yeah, I was just comparing mine to yours as well . I have never deleted anything from it, as I've never used it, so... ugh!

I guess I can manually go through and delete the list page by page by hitting "check all" and "delete selected", but obviously I'd love it if there was an easier way

Also, is there any way other than going in and manually deleting it from the list to keep from subscribing to a thread that you make a post in?

Check with Lego, he might be able to purge your subscribed list somehow. If not, i just wouldn't sweat it. Keep the first page as clean as you can and go forward.

Re, not subscribing, not that I'm aware. I just go through and clean them out once a day or so.

Just think of 'my subscribed threads' as 'threads I've posted in' with the ability to add threads to that list using the 'subscribe button' at the bottom of any thread page.

The basic thought is that if you've posted in a thread, you generally have an interest in it, so along with additional threads you add to that list by manually subscribing, the 'my subscribed threads' list represents all the threads you're interested in keeping up with to see if someone has added something new to.

I understand why people would want to keep their subscribed threads managed down to a single page (I'm as much OCD as the next geek when it comes to many things), but there really is very little reason to do so.

The threads that don't get posted in drift down the page (and eventually off the first page) of your subscribed threads, so the only thing you're going to keep up with are those subscribed threads where people are still posting (and that's the point).

Now, if you're trying to keep a handy reference of some old-timey threads that you love (and like to link to on occasion), but that don't actually get posted into, then a non-managed subscribed threads list obviously isn't going to work for that particular scenario.

But if that's really what you want, I'd suggest just creating a 'my favorite threads' section on your expanded user page and just throw links to your favorite 'old-timey' threads there, so you'll always have a quick reference place to find those threads without having to constantly manage your subscribed threads page to get a similar effect...and plus people that randomly go look at your user profile page will see your fav threads list and go check them out, which is cool too.
