Hi Dakka!

Name's Aaron and as the subject says, I'm completely new to tabletop gaming.

For a while I've been reading the 40K fluff and lore here and there, and found it completely fascinating. I didn't think about playing for a while, but lately I've been thinking about getting into it. I've seen people play at comic shops and it looks like it'd be a lot of fun.

From some of the other intro threads I've read, this seems to be a common trend. There's a gaming shop nearby that I've been to once or twice, but they were always busy with their regular tournaments and gaming nights and such, so I didn't really get a chance to ask a lot of questions. (I don't think someone concentrating on their assaults would want someone interrupting them out of nowhere, ya know?)

Anyway, glad to be here and all that.

D'oh! I forgot some stuff.

I'm interested in the hobby for about equal amounts of playing and the hobby/painting/modeling aspects.

Right now, it seems like Orks and Tau interest me about equally for both gaming and hobbying.

You might want to look when your local gaming shop's gaming nights are, and go there just before/when it starts - plenty of time to ask questions, I think! You might even get to play with someone for a bit.

When I first started I went down to my local shop on gaming nights and actually picked up a few units from some people for dirt cheap and played a skirmish or three. Great way to start, and if your strapped for cash, secondhand models are great.

Hope you get into the game, seems to me that more players are always needed in this sort of thing.

Orks FTW!! as said before come early and just BS with people, ask questions about the army they are playing and why. I have yet to meet a 40k player that wont brag about the army they are playing and tell you why its the best haha.
