I picked up some of those lovely Micro Arts Studio Urban bases with the hex-plate sidewalks to base by Yu Jing starter set, and they look as great as advertised. Only problem- if I get around to making terrain, it's going to look really funny if I don't continue that motif in the scenery. Does anyone make plain ole hex pattern plates in that style? I figure they wouldn't have to match exact, just as long as they were fairly similar.

I haven't seen hex pattern plates in that style from anyone but them. Having said that, as long as your army looks uniform, its going to look good.
Any basing style will look different on the terrain you're playing on - as an example, my orks are on desert bases, my IG are on urban bases - so both can and have looked off depending on where we're fighting.
