So this is a Necron army at 750 pts, that I can successfully build for just under 200$ because of the discount I get at my FLGS. I will be buying the Battle Force and one box of Immortals, and an Overlord.

Doomsday Ark (I figured I'd need something high strength to hit some vehicles, terminators etc.)

Thoughts?

make the warriors a 20 man blob, make the doomsdayark a ghost ark, and use the points to get some crypteks/lords (either veiltek for the immorts or a lord with res orb)

doomsday ark is poop, and wont be much use going forward, ghost ark with 20 man blob however! amazing

gauss handles vehicles, and terminators at 750? good on him! thats a third of his army, just stay away from them

much better, id still replace the scarabs with a lord/cryptek for the squad who dosnt have the lords res orb, but this list is still solid.

That'll be the next thing I think to get a Cryptek or whatever, but its an extra 20 bucks or so to do that, putting me over my initial price point.

So the Expansion plan for this is to hit 1000 after this army is operational. I know I want another lord so I can have a res orb in both squads, but from their I'm not entirely sure. I'm thinking either an Annihilation Barge, or some Wraiths. Will be two very different unit choices, but I like the playability of wraiths from what I've seen, and I like the look and feel of the barge. The other thing about the barge is I can continue to do what I like best about doing this army, magnetize and customize everything. I'm even going to magnetize the ghost ark so it can be ghost ark or doomsday ark (even though I'll probably never use it) I'm going to see if I can manage to magnetize the immortals to be interchangeable as death marks, and I would like to make the barge capable of playing as either Command or Annihilation. Which should I choose, wraiths or barge?

Might want to give your Overlord some Sempiternal Weave so he can tank for whatever he joins.
Seconding the need for Royal Court support.

Also Wraiths are pure awesome, but need numbers and a Destroyer Lord to be a true threat. An Annihilation Barge, on the other hand, can be thrown in any list and function perfectly fine. Go for Barges for now (two, if possible).

Added onto the current it brings me up to 1000, Overlord and Harbinger go in Warriors squad, gives them some serious punch if someone assaults them, and by being supported by the Ark and the Res Orb, they should stick around pretty well. The lord goes with the Immortals that hold objectives to help them stay there and mindshackle helps out the assault.

I'm telling you, man, you'd be crazy not to stick some 2+ saves on your Lord/Overlord.
Just drop a couple troops if you need to. Trust me, this is a much needed investment.

On another note, have any of you ordered battle foam for a full Necron army? And if so would you be able to help me figure out what I should get to fill out a full box? Couple of us around here are going to do a big order so shipping is cheaper and I just don't know what exactly I should get, like are monoliths something I should be running and therefore have foam for, or are they garbage?
