So this came up in a game yesterday: My opponent had a troops choice on a mysterious objective: "6. Grav Wave Generator. Any unit attempting to charge a unit in control of this objective halves it's charge range." On turn 4 he then proceeded to move a second Troop choice onto the objective.
Now his opinion on this was that he:
A). Had to nominate which of his units, at the end of his movement phase, was in control of the objective. (Unit X or unit Y) Only that unit would get the objective bonus.
I then played my turn 4, and my jump units, moving 12" could easily choose which side of the objective they were going to charge at, and i was in the opinion that:
B). Upon me declaring a charge with my unit, he could decide which unit controlled the objective (picking the closest to my squad) and i would then pick the target of the charge, resolving as usual (with 1/2 range to whichever he picked)
1). How should it have been played by RaW? all i could find was p123: "You control an objective if there is at least one model from one of your scoring units, (...), within 3" of it." There is no specification of when you need to declare which unit is control, simply "you must make it clear to your opponent which objective the unit is controlling."
2). How would this then work if my jump infantry is at equal distance to both units and i decide to Disordered Charge?
