This is our very first battle report. Since I have a MAC and battle chronicler doesn't like MACs i've been searching for an alternative. I've noticed a lot of 40k people film their battle reports during and after turns so we thought we'd give it a try.

On the perfumed wind

Wow, did the GUO have wounds lost, or did he get one-shotted by the screaming skull?

Really interesting conversions in the DoC list.

Not sure what you used to record video, but it had some kind of re-focusing thing that kinda made me a little seasick. Other than that cool, nice and concise!

Thanks for posting!

“It was in lands of the Chi-An where she finally ran him to ground. There she kissed him deeply as he lay dying, and so stole from him his last, agonized breath.

On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”

Beast of Nurgle shouldn't have overrun after killing the chariots, since it didn't charge that turn. Arkhan's unit also shouldn't have gotten a stand-and-shoot that last turn, since Nehekharan Undead can ooooooonly hold as a charge reaction (boring, right?) Otherwise it was an interesting report to watch. Always nice to see a TK victory!

I think you made a mistake in letting your units get so spread out. TK units really need magical support to do well, and you need to stay closer to your wizards to let that happen. You could have been tag-teaming with your hierotitan and snake units, supported by buffs and debuffs from Arkhan's unit standing right in behind, and cleared through his left flank much quicker. Instead you let your units get spread out and isolated, which could have gone really poorly for you.

I was also quite surprised that you didn't seem to be getting many spells off. Was your opponent dispelling like a fiend? How many dice were you throwing at spells? Between Arkhan's level 5 and the hierotitan you could be easily overwhelming him with 3-4 casting attempts a turn.

My only other suggestion is to try running your archers in a wider, shallower formation. You get a lot more shots that way, since you can't volley-fire when you move. I'd also been running my chariots in a block of 6 like you, but I've recently switched to two units of 3. Especially without a Nehek mage to raise them back up you'll rarely ever get the S5 hits, and you end up just paying a whack of points for ablative wounds on a unit that doesn't really deserve them. As you saw, whiffing on S4 impact hits means that 370 point unit goes poof in a real hurry. Use 2 units of 3 on your flanks as harassers/redirectors and they seem to do much better. Opponents are more likely to ignore them, and they can charge in late game for some much-needed combat res.

Your camera has really nice shake compensation/movement smoothing (whatever you wanna call it.) What camera is that?

Also, the game highlights the value of basing. Your red earth basing is really nice, and the fact that you have it on the trays too really ties the army together. Those clear white bases almost make even the nicely painted models look unpainted. I don't know if they're supposed to be snowy bases? In the film they mostly remind me of clean plasticard.

Overall though, good battle report.
