Ok, the title says it all really, the new brute model I personally think looks really good, though I know that brutes aren't particularly useful. Especially in a Khornate themed list as mine usually is. So I've attempted to throw a couple in without being too much of a point sink and hopefully not being priority target number one! Let me know what you think. I have add in some nurgle chaos space marines too as an objective holder as my previous lists were really thin on troops. Just so people know - I already own Kharn and his 9 bezerkers, I have 10 forgeworld world eaters torsos, heads and pads for the other squad of marines, I have 10 forgeworld death guard torsos, heads and pads for the nurgle marines, a set of forgeworld world eaters land raider doors, and I already own a single maulerfiend.

I don't think Helbrutes are as invaluable as everyone makes them out to be. They WERE mediocre for awhile, and now they make a good choice against all the super-heavies we are going to see. I haven't played a list like yours, but I think it would be interesting to see how it worked. I don't think it will tournament competitive without anti-air.

Also, are you going 2000? If so, I would use a list with 2 drakes, 3 helbrutes (multimelta missle), 4 obliterators, 180 spawn, Kharn, 4 x10-15 cultits, 5 nurgle spawn, and 1 nurgle lord on a bike (PC LC). This is the only way I can see helbrutes being used competitively in a chaos army.

The best way to make hellbrutes, and in fact most mediocre units any good, is to play huge points totals. Theres so much other gak on the board they get ignored and can get into smashing range with their two whole powerfist attacks

So basically, at 1500 points they're really not viable?
