Recently, I decided to go back and redo some models I painted previously. Originally, I had painted these khymera in the standard red and bone scheme. I wanted something more suggestive of another dimension rather than the gruesome, but ultimately organic, inside out scheme. Also, I had the idea to try a completely new technique that I had heard about many times: glazing. I re-primed the models by hand with a custom very light grey and then painted them using successive layers of glazes. I feel it was a great learning experience, I'm happy with the results, and they will look more cohesive with the whole army, I think. Also, these metal models are really nice...been a while since I've painted metal.

Please let me know what you think and follow the army as it progressing in my blog (link below). Thanks and happy painting!

Gorgeous. That's how GW should have painted them up.

You've got a fantastic DE army in the works. I particularly love the way you've painted the sails on your barges. Very unique and awesome.

These are beautiful. Love to hear a bit about how you did the skulls (and sourced metal kits for these!)

Thanks for your interest guys.

@ eohall: the skulls were painted with oily steel then glazed with warlock purple and lastly shaded with black ink.

Also, thanks MoD, but the sails you mentioned from my painting blog aren't painted! XD
