I may be remembering something from a previous edition, but are all vehicles only allowed to move 6" MAX in order for the unit on-board to disembark? I thought there may have been an exception to this for fast or open topped vehicles, but I don't have the book in front of me.

You are correct, you can only disembark a vehicle if the vehicle has moved at most 6 inches. Emergency disembarking is an exception to this of course. Open-topped vehicles only mean that they are assault vehicles and that you can measure from any point on the hull for shooting and disembarking
