Hey guys just a few questions,
Im thinking of buying the Kasrkin box and dividing them into 2 groups of 5, throwing in two meltas each and deep striking them behind enemy tankys and seeing if i can pop a few.
I know its very risky and they will undoubtedly die next turn but what do you guys think?
My last question is do you think i should wait until the new box set of storm troopers comes out and instead use those models, as i could regret buying the older looking ones for the new
and improved ones. I know i will be saving 17 pounds and its just personal opinion at the end of the day but id just like to hear your thoughts.
Once again thank you so much guys, i know i a pain asking lots of silly questions but it really means a lot!
Have a great evening everyone xx

The first part of the question should be on the 40k tactics thread.
As for the second part I am not a guard player so I have no opinion on it.

The new models, from the picture seen anyway, look excellent. However, the existing Stormtrooper models are really nice on their own. I'd probably wait til the plastic ones come out in a couple weeks.
As for dropping a 5 man squad with 2x melta guns, well, this is kind of the only use a lot of people think Stormtroopers have at all. It keeps the unit cheap, and means they'll usually get their points back if they drop near rear armor of a vehicle or something. I like bigger squads and doing more diverse things with them, but it's not a bad plan.

Admittedly, I'm doubly biased since I prefer metal miniatures and I really like the Kasrkin sculpts. However, consider that you'd have to buy the Kasrkin boxed set, plus 4 blisters of Kasrkins with Assault Weapons to get those units you mentioned. That's expensive.
I'd wait a few weeks and get the new figs. They might make changes to the Stormies in the new codex, and the newer boxed set would (presumably) take those changes into account.
As for tactics, I use 5-man meltagun STs all the time and my regular opponents hate them! Being able to re-roll scatter means they pretty much drop where I want them. I use them against anything I really need dead.

Yes, they have looked not cool.
Back in the RT days - when they were plastics (and metals of the same pose) with dodgy berets. Not helmets, berets. Not even bullet resistant berets.
They were lame as.
The metal ones that replaced them were much better, as were the kasrkin. I have 40 kasrkin and 20 of the older style in my shed of shame (where armies for game systems I no longer play live)

Look like british or Russian marines too me . I hope they aren't the new must have and that vets stay troops. I also hope the new truck doesn't declass chimera totaly. Those new kits cost more then they are actualy worth and not being a skimer means , it will never be as good as serpents.

I'd say to get both, but the new ones look so damn good.

I keep mine in a 10 man squad, more menacing that way IMO.
The Kasrkin models are perfectly fine, however, does anyone have pictures of these new models?

New models look gorgeous... but Kasrkin are IMO one of the best models GW produced. I have to buy one more blister in case they will be OOPed. So far, Im using them as veterans in carapace.
For the tactics part of post. Wait two weeks cca for Tempestus rules. ST are good used as suicide antitank, but expensive as hell. So I hope Tempestus will give them more power for reasonable cost..

I find the rather funny on a fluff basis.
COMMANDER "Hey you, I know you are best trained troops with the most high tech Lasgun built and the best armor we here in the IG can have, but I want you to go into the middle of the enemy lines with only half a squad and blow up that tank. Oh ya by the way you'll probably die righty after words".
STRORMTROOPER. " YES SIR"
But on the original subject I always loved the Karsikins model so they would be a good choice, BUT as you already said there might be a new awsome totally powerful gun in the new plastics which might leave you to regret the old models. So I say wait a bit to get more info about new rules and then make a choice based on what looks best to you.

I like the Kasrkin, but I don't want to give my army a Cadian aesthetic. I am running my own homebrew regiment, so I prefer the older Scholam ST's. Ipso facto, I am pumped for the new models!
