Friendly game between an old time player returning to the hobby for his first 6th edition game. This is my 10th?
My first battle report, so no pictures and no experience writing one. Also don't have my opponent's list, but I should recall with fair accuracy since I also play Eldar. Here we go.

Deployment: Primary Objectives are both placed in ruins at opposite corners of the table (Templar right side, Eldar left, from
BT's view)
Eldar rolls Falcon Swiftness for Warlord Trait. For Psychic Powers he rolls Terrify and Empower.
Black Templar rolls Furious Assault for Warlord Trait.
Black Templar wins roll off and deploys first. Dreadnought is the only reserve. Objective gets a Las/
Plas squad on it and a forward-most Assault Squad nearby. Rest of the units are deployed at far end of table putting them closest to enemy's objective.
Eldar reserves his Warp Spiders. He then deploys Guardians on top of his objective. Behind that, Two wave serpents (Wraithguard and Fire Dragons) and a Fire Prism are set (hugging the table corner). In far corner, Jetbikes, Wave Serpent (Spiritseer and Wraithblades) and a Fire Prism hide in cover.
Eldar fails to seize initiative.
Black Templars Turn 1 Drop pod lands inches in front of Guardian Squad. Land Raider moves forward full amount (and later Flat Out), flanked on left by Assault Marines and Rhino hangs back on the right by a few inches (blocking
LOS from the left corner). Assault marines on right side walk/run into forward terrain for cover.
Lascannons fire at what few targets they can see and place a penetration on left Fire Prism for Crew Stunned, but it uses Spirit stones to ignore. Drop pod fails to kill any Guardians. Whirlwind wipes nearly half of the Guardian Squad off the board. Dreadnought uses Heavy flamer and reduces Squad to three models. The squad holds. Rhino pops smoke.
Eldar Turn 1 Left Wave serpents split up.
WS (Wraithguard) move past Dreadnought.
WS (Fire Dragons) move with Fire Prism closer to middle of table to get away from Dreadnought. Jetbikes move forward while right
WS (Wraithblades) and Fire Prism move closer to center.
Defender Squad fires Bright Lance at Land Raider and misses. Fire Prisms fire Lance shots at Land Raider and fail to hit or glance. Wave Serpents at center fire at right Assault Marines scoring three kills. Wave Serpent at left shoots Assault Marines scoring two kills. Jetbikes are not in range for attack.
Black Templars Turn 2 Left Assault Marines get laughably close to left Wave Serpent. Land Raider moves 6" and deploys squad in back center near enemy vehicles. Rhino follows suit. Right Assault Marines Jump out of terrain, losing two marines to
DT checks. Dreadnought moves into ruins with Guardians.
Whirlwind wipes out the remaining Guardians. Dreadnought fails to hit Left
WS with Meltagun. Land Raider lights up a Fire Prism, but deals no damage. Las/
Plas squads fail to hit or damage left and right
WS.
Left Assault Marines gets charge off on left
WS (Wraithguard), but only land a single penetration from Melta Bomb. It produces a Crew Shaken, but Spirit Stones shake it off. Crusader Squad from
LRC get their charge on Fire Prism, but only deal a glance. Command squad fails to charge center
WS (Fire Dragons). Right Assault Marines get their charge off on right
WS (Wraithblades) and destroy the vehicle! And a Wraithblade dies in the Explosion!
Eldar Turn 2 Warp Spiders arrive next to Black Templar's objective. Left Wave Serpent moves beside left Las/
Plas squad. Center
WS deploys Fire Dragons. Center Fire Prism shuffles away a bit. Right Fire Prism shuffles away from
WS crater a bit. Jetbikes move close to Right Las/
Plas squad. Wraithblades and Spiritseer inch to edge of their crater.
Jetbikes lay a little into Right Las/
Plas squad for two kills. Right Fire Prism lights up Right Assault Marines, who break and fall back 17". Center Fire Prism fires at Crusader Squad and cleans up six kills. Warp Spiders fire at Right Las/
Plas squad for two kills. Left
WS (Wraithguard) moves Flat Out to get firmly behind Left Las/
Plas squad. Center
WS and Fire Dragons put a ton of shots into Command Squad, earning three kills (saving throws

and no
FNP due to double
STR).
Black Templars Turn 3 Left Assault Marines jump towards Left
WS.
LRC and Rhino move toward center vehicles. Dreadnought shuffles nervously around enemy objective. Right Assault Marines rally. Command Squad moves closer to Spiritseer and Wraithblades. Crusader Squad chases after center Fire Prism.
Crusader Squad throw a krak grenade at center Fire Prism, but deals no damage. Left Assault Marines throw a krak grenade at Left
WS, but fails to glance.
LRC shoots up center Fire Prism, but fails to hit or damage it. Rhino shoots at Fire Dragons to no effect. Whirlwind shoots Fire Dragons, downing one. Las/
Plas squads, with enemies all around them, fail to deal any damage, if they even hit.
Left Assault Marines charge left
WS, and glance it to death. Wraithguard hop out. Crusader squad charges Fire Prism, and glance it down. Command squad fails to charge Spiritseer and Wraithblades. Right Assault Marines charge Warp Spiders, and lose all but the Veteran Sgt to overwatch (two kills). The Veteran challenges and the Exarch accepts. Exarch falls, and combat ends. Warp Spiders Hit & Run to safety.
Eldar Turn 3 Spiritseer empowers the Wraithblades and attempts to Terrify the command squad, but the witch is denied. Crimson Hunter comes on and positions with Dreadnought in sight. Eldar move Warp Spiders and Jetbikes closer to Black Templar objective. Remaining tanks shuffle around. Wraithguard move close to left Las/
Plas squad.
Wraithguard put down two marines with fire. Fire Prism puts down two more, one from Las/
Plas and one from left Assault Marines. Jetbikes focus down and kill Right Assault Marine. Warp Spiders take down two right Las/
Plas marines. Fire Dragons take out the Rhino. Crimson Hunter fires into Dreadnought but fails to get past cover saves.
Wraithblades assault the Command Squad. Captain declares a challenge and the Spiritseer accepts. They swing at the same time, but the Spiritseer misses entirely. The Captain lands numerous blows, though each one is
STR 7 and cause
ID. The Wraithblades manage to kill one veteran.
Conclusion: At this point, the Eldar player had to call it since he had a long commute, wife and kid at home, and work in the morning.
Black Templar - First Blood, Slay the Warlord, Line Breaker, and Primary Objective
Eldar - Line Breaker
Black Templar 6 : Eldar 1 I hate to call it a victory, as he could have easily cleared me from my objective with another turn. I had plenty of fight left, and fortune had slightly favored me the whole time. Though we both had abysmal rolls at times. His Fire Prisms and my Lascannons never hit. I failed clusters of saves.
He is a decent player and it was a friendly fun game, but there were some silly choices here and there. Fire Dragons shooting a Rhino while a Command Squad AND Crusader Squad were nearby. That is the most obvious one I remember. His positioning could have been better planned as it was a little too easy for me to assault his vehicles.
But we had fun and it felt good for him to play again and good for my Templars to squeeze out a win.
