Hi!

I've rather recently tried starting Eldar (got a friends old models) and find them rather fun. Something that I would like to try out, however, is a Corsair army, with some Allied Eldar. However, I have a few questions before I start proxying and trying them out:

Where can I find the current rules? Are they in Doom of Mymeara, or are they updated?
I heard the Corsair Prince lets some units Deep Strike. Can he allow allied Eldar units to deep strike or is it limited to his detachment?
Do you have any recommendations on unit combinations etc?

Thanks in advance!

IA 11 the Doom of Mymeara has some rules and such for a FW version of an Eldar Corsair army.
With the regular GW set up you could always make your army list for Eldar and put in an allied group of Dark Eldar to make it more Piratical.
But if you want to make it the special corsair way including the Wasp fast attack jump jets war walker you will need the book IA 11 and the kits for them from FW.

Happy Raiding!

Thank You for the reply!

Good news for my part: a friend has the Doom of Mymeara-book and I got to borrow it! For the example of Eldar/Dark Eldar combo: While I see what you mean, I really don't wan't to use Dark Eldar (I don't quite like their looks nor fluff), but thank you for the advice anyway!

I would still, however, love an answer on the question about the Corsair Prince allowing allied Eldar to Deep Strike. I don't quite understand what they mean with their wording ("Any three units of the owning player's choice, chosen as a part of the Force Organisation chart for the army which do not already have the Deep Strike rule may be granted this rule for the duration of the game"). Perhaps someone can shed some light on that?

I will hopefully soon post an army list in that section for people to judge!

Edit:
Another tiny question:
Can a Vyper be used as a proxy for a Corsair Venom (possibly rebuilding them slightly), or are the sizes between the two too different?

If I am interpreting that rule correctly, you pick three units that don't have Deep Strike. They get Deep Strike for the game. Not sure what the Force Org chart is in there for.

That's how I read it too, though with a certain uncertanity of whether it could be used to deepstrike units from allied detachments or not...

No. Definitely not. That's likely the significance of the Force org statement.

Thank you! That clarifies alot! Playing on the idea of deepstriking a unit of Fire Dragons (chosen as a Corsair elite choice)...

One question still remains, though:

Would you allow a slightly rebuild Vyper (to look more like a transport) as a Corsair Venom-model?

No clue on that. I have no idea how comparable they are.

Why are you avoiding the venom model? It's remarkably easy to simply not put all the spiky bits on it and you'll be left with a fairly Eldary looking vehicle that doesn't look like it took a quick trip through the leather shop.

Vypers and Venoms are the same vehicle, only one has an extended cab. As long as its mod shows space for passengers, I can't imagine anyone having a problem. It'd be like complaining that a Rhino modded with a tl heavy bolter turret isn't a viable Razorback...

Somewhere in the dark...

Corsairs ally with eldar as battle brothers so I'm quite sure units from an allied detachment can take advantage of the prince's deep strike rule. Obviously this will lead to cries of cheese since you can abuse it - I'm thinking about wraith guard with the flamer thingys.

Corsairs haven't yet been updated for 6th so can't take advantage of things like battle focus but their shuriweapons do their mini rend. Wasps are pretty pointless atm since normal walkers just do more for less. Other units from the mymeara book have been updated tho so look out for vehicles in the new Imperial armour apocalypse book. The shadow spectres also have updates available thru FW.

@Lansirill:
I have three Vypers, and not a lot of money, and so a few conversions should make it a lot cheaper than buying three new ones...

@Bharring:
Thanks! I didn't know how similar they where, but they did seem about the same size. Fore the conversion, I thought mostly of making it look more like an actual transport, so I guess that won't be a problem.

@ColdSadHunger:
Thanks for the reply!
Firstly, it seems people might disagree on how the Deep Striking rule works, so I guess I'll have the check with those I play with before using it.

Secondly, the Shuriken Weaponry pseudorending seems nice... Do all weapons refer to the new Eldar codex?

For the Wasps, I kind of see your point. However, Jet Packs help compensate for no Battle Focus. They're not much more expensive (unless you want a Brightlance loadout), and can Deep Strike. They are also troops. I don't see them as pointless, but obviously not always a necessity.

Deep striking Outcasts fits narratively, and appears to fit the rules (both raw and rai), but at first glance that isn't obvious, so checking with your group would be best.

For wargear stats, according to YMDC, several people said use the old weapon rules, but FW says use the updated version. So that's not settled. And both standard weapons (shuricats and las blasters) were changed.

The updated Wasp entry explicitly says its available to Corsairs, so use that instead.

My Corsairs are a ton of fun (especially as allies or a small force), but the rules are clearly old, and I don't field them often.

Is there an updated version of the Wasp Walker rules?

Yes, I'll see if I can look up which book its in when I get home (probably IA: Apoc)

This has the important information you need in addition to the basic rules in IA11. IAA (2013 (2014?)) does not update them any.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Thanks! Didn't know that file existed, so that's great!
