Right, I though this was weird, but possible. One of the guys in GW Shop were talking about converting a Leman Russ into a Space Wolves army. Is this even possible? It sounds awesome! How would you go about doing it?

I remember the days when there was a Leman Russ variant in the space wolf codex (Insert nostalgic look). Isn't this what allies is for, or are you talking more actual conversion to a predator or similar? Seeing as you're in Painting and Modelling I'm gonna say get the russ and stick predator weapons on it, so for example, Autocannon barrel on the russ turret and Heavy Bolter sponsons, cover in suitably wolfy regalia and paint your preferred space wolf colour scheme. Field as a dakka predator, with extra armour perhaps.

Sounds good, I must try it next week some time. A Dude ploped basically what you said a Leman Russ Exterminator with heavy bolter side sponsons and a missing hull weapon painted in Space Wolf colours with a Marine in the turret hatch on the table amid the rest of his Army and explains that since the tank is no longer in the Codex it will be played as a Predator with Autocannons and heavy bolter side sponsons. So, exactly that you mentioned. It look sweet. Would you ally, or just convert?

I'd be tempted to ally a small force of fenrisian guardsmen (not strictly fluffy though) in and have my selection of a leman russ squadron, getting the full benefit of the bigger hull and better armour. A space wolf army flanked by a squadron of leman russ battle tanks and a landraider would be a sight and a half! Maybe use a box of marauders to convert to a company command squad and veteran squad to camp a home objective and fulfill minimum ally requirements.

the old Codex has the Leman Russ Exterminator, Twin Linked Auto Cannon Turret and 3 heavy Bolters all at marine BS which was nuts.

They should never have taken the Leman Russ from the SW codex. How can a tank be called Leman Russ and not be a part of the SW arsenal?

I agree 100% that tank is the legacey it belongs in the SW dex, i bought and used one even thou it never worked well for me because it was named after Russ and i felt like it was owed to the wolves lol.

A thought for you. Why not take a very small allied detachment of guard? Theme them as some sort of Fenris PDF. under the current 'dex that should be as simple as a lord commissar, some veterans (so you don't have to buy a million models for platoons) and some Russ'

Here is a Heresy era/Astartes pattern Leman Russ Executioner I based it on a combination of old artwork indicating early pattern Leman Russ tanks with a domed turret similar to the old pattern Predator tank.

Old lore indicated that the Leman Russ STC was recovered by Leman Russ the Primarch and his legion and the tank was thus named in his honor.

You say that I am crazy. I say that you are right!

Futuristic is pushing it, it's still got a WW1 era hull shape and tread layout, no matter how rounded the turret looks.

The model itself looks neat though, well done.
