Good Ol' Texas

Hey all,

I don't play Orks, but I always wanted to make a extreme mech list! It'll probably be my next project after my NL and Tau, but I wanted to get the list sorted out first.

Here it is:

Big Mek (KFF, Kombi-Skorcha) - 90
Big Mek (KFF) - 85

Spanna Boys (Mek, Shootas, Scrap Truck w/ RPJ) - 110
Spanna Boys (Mek, Shootas, Scrap Truck w/ RPJ) - 110
Spanna Boys (Mek, Shootas, Scrap Truck w/ RPJ) - 110
Spanna Boys (Mek, Shootas, Scrap Truck w/ RPJ) - 110
Spanna Boys (Mek, Shootas, Scrap Truck w/ RPJ) - 110

Grot Tanks (6 tanks, Kommanda, x6 Rokkit Launchas) - 285
Grot Tanks (6 tanks, Kommanda, x6 Rokkit Launchas) - 285
Grot Tanks (6 tanks, Kommanda, x6 Skorchas) - 225

Lootas (5 man, Looted Wagon) - 110
Lootas (5 man, Looted Wagon) - 110
Lootas (5 man, Looted Wagon) - 110

As you can see, its a hardcore mech list. Tactics should be fairly straightforward

Thanks for looking, please leave feedback!

Considering that you are new to Orks I can say this right off the bat: a mob of 5 Lootas is WAAAAY too few. Shoot for ~20 as a minimum, regardless of the type of army you are playing.

Now that that is out of the way I would like to say that I have limited experience with Dred Mobs but that is still more than most Ork players. Here is my assessment on this list:

The Good:

-Grot Tanks are awesome, Rokkits and Grotzookas are your best weapons for these guys.
-Maxing out on Meks is a good start for the number of vehicles you are bringing. They wont do much to save a Trukk from an explosion but they sure can fix up Grot Tanks, Heavy Support, and Walkers reliably.
-KFFs are also good but I would recommend putting your Big Meks into Junkas as a dedicated transport, and consider attaching a squad of Slashas or Burnas as well for added support.

The Bad:

-Meks cannot take Bosspoles so your Boyz in the Trukks will never be fearless nor can they reroll failed morale/leadership checks. You could have a bit more fun by putting them into Warkopta Skwadrons (if Trukks and Landspeeders had a baby). It takes up a Fast Attack slot to get 3 of these.
-Lootas in Looted Wagons are not good. IMO put Lootas on a Skyfire Landingpad if you want them to be tough to kill. This combo would be a lot more enticing if the Wagon could take a Boomgun AND Lootas but, sadly, that is not the case.

Suggestions:

-Play around with your Spanna Boyz to see what works for you. The Troops choice is arguably the weakest part of the Dred Mob but it IS the cheapest way for an Ork player to get Meks! Use them to repair and score but leave the fighting to your other units.
-Take Mega-Dreads, Lifta Wagons, Big Trakks (Flakka Gunz or Supa-Kannons) for your Heavy Supports. Large mobs of Lootas are good too but if you want Lootas then you might as well play Codex: Orks.

EDIT: grammar
