Can Mephiston have an honor guard?

Is it possible or is only used with Calgar?

Every HQ unlocks an Honour Guard option, but as mentioned over and over again, Mephiston isn't an Independent Character and he can NOT join a squad and a squad can NOT join him

Ok so if I wanted to add an honor guard x5 who could I add them to in the blood angels chapters

Not quite sure what the question is here...

For each HQ in your army (not counting Honour Guard units themselves), you can take a unit of Honour Guard. This includes the special characters (except Corbulo) as well as the 'normal' HQ's of Librarian / Reclusiarch / Captain.
You are not required to attach the Honour Guard to the HQ that unlocked them, they are separate units.

Is that what you want to know?

Hmmmm I'm not sure actually what I'm asking I thought an honor guard had to be attached or accompanied by a hq character. Like Calgar and his honor guard (or has he got body guards?) . It seems I've confused myself. Can these units be standalone then in a chapter?

Yes they can be stand alone, you can only take 1 Honour Guard for every 1 HQ you field though. That is the restriction. In this case they cannot join Mephiston, but he still allows you to field a squad of them.

Any independent character from the blood angels codex can join them.

Read the entry on Independent Characters in your rule book.

Dante, Tycho (non-DC), Astorath, Gabriel Seth, and any generic HQ selection.
