A question dakkanaughts, when a flyer enters the board from reserves does it have to fly straight ahead 18" when zooming on, leaving an 18" safe zone against non turreted weapons, or can it enter on an angle?

Any angle that will not carry you off the board again IIRC.

It can enter any angle as long as it moves at least 18" but can go up to 36" and cannot go off the board or end with its base within 1" of an enemy model

Thanks guys, that is what I thought, though my opponent believed they had to come on straight.

Assume the flyer is placed just off the table, your still aloud to pivot it 90° before it moves.

It does have to come on straight (as in, it cannot turn once it has entered the board). But there is no requirement that it come on perpendicular to your board edge, which is what it sounds like your opponent was arguing for.

There are still some potential deadzones in the corners against fliers without turrets or helldrakes.

The flyer has to enter from your reserve edge without turning. It has to completely fit onto that edge when it comes on.

I've never been able to find a deadzone. Hide in the right corner? Flyer comes in at an extreme angle from about the middle of the board, facing right. And vice versa.
