Hey dakka just put this list together for an upcoming tournament and was hoping to get some input. Any thoughts on what it might have trouble with? Thanks in advance!

nice fast list.

i personally think the chariots bring little to the table in this list as they cannot march and get left behind.

i would drop them and in favour of great eagles or bolt throwers, some high str multiple wound war machines will help you deal with monsters and Daemon princes who will otherwise munch through you cav.

- Standard loadout in items. Which lore are you using?

- Try and squeeze in Ring of Fury, it helps saturate magic defences.

BSB with lance, dragon armour, charmed shield, golden crown and barded elven steed 141pts

- Never a fan of charmed shield anything that is going to hit you and get through your 2+ armour save will likely hit you more than once. Also it works on the first hit not first wound, not good. Golden Crown is much better ass it has good synergy with a 2+ save. If you want to keep the BSB alive on the cheap use Shield of the Merwyrm instead, and look out sir for everything other than melee.

- Waste of points, characters don't have the same output of rank and file troops for the price. Think how many more silver helms you can buy for 216pts. Now if you gave the nobles a purpose that would be different, use their magic item allowance well. Here are some suggestions:
Reaver Bow - its a BS5 heavy bolter, what is not to like.
Ironcurse Icon - 6++ against warmachines for the unit.
Sword of Striking - as a magic weapon it helps kill ethereal creatures, you can use any of the cheap swords, but Sword of Striking offers the most for the least cost.

- Deploy Dragon Princes in a single rank, you dont get what you apy for in multiple ranks. You need no more than six IMHO

- Pity, I thought you were going all cavalry. Good unit but at this point you might as well take more cavalry and stick with the theme. I would swap them for a pair of Eagles and more Silver Helms.

- Good cost effective support, you need one per cavalry block.

I would take bolt throwers instead of the chariots for sure though. Are you going to put all your nobels in the unit of dragon princes? Seems like a lot for that one unit but that is just me.

Maybe try and fit a frostheart or flame phoenix in there for a nice supporting charger (great eagles work to but with less punch but for less points so you might be able to work something in there)

Orlanth raised a few good points. Multiple units of six dragon princes would be much more effective than the one large unit you have. You don't get value for the points your spending past the first rank, as you pay a premium for having 2A. I'll second that the two mundane nobles here are not cost effective.

I like the inclusion of the white lions. They can hold one flank really well with the support of the chariots. Using chariots to support cavalry blocks is actually kind of tricky, as ironically they are usually too slow.

Dont get me wrong, White Lions are solid, though in this list Phoenix Guard would serve better, the White Lions are a hammer unit and this list is a bag of hammers. Phoenix Guard are a solid anvil.

However they will look out of place as the only infantry, however if infantry is called for go the whole hog and get more and some RBTs, otherwise the army has a nice mobile theme, even the archmage is mounted, it would be a shame to have a single ball and chain infantry unit, and if removed being a clearly themed list from that point onward it will get more leeway from opponents. A collection of this size may well be just scratching the surface, to have so many HE cavalry makes me wonder how much infantry the OP also has. Perhaps two lists could be written a thematic cavalry only force and a balanced one. Allowing for the number of Reavers shown I would be surprised if the OP cannot field a griffon or two or other fun stuff. High Elves are really versatile being a small elite force, you can have enough elves to field any which way and still have half the models of an orc army.

You NEVER take a bus of silver helms. Simply because of the banner issue. On the silver helm bus, you cannot take the BoTWD. Plus princes have the WEapon skill, and initiative bonuses over the silver helms. And the immunity to metal.

I understand the banner issue, that's the main selling point for DPs over Helms. The weapon skill and initiative bonuses aren't really selling points for me. With a reasonable WS of 4 and ASF at I5 Helms don't lose out that badly in those departments. The immunity to metal is nice, but I've personally found that DPs in ranked units are a massive point sink. Just a personal preference.

Couldn't have said it better myself. This is basically my issue in a nutshell, massively over paying for a delivery system just doesn't seem an effective use of points.
