Hey all. Been running a local league with the guys I game with. Each month the points go up by 250, starting at 500pts, with 2 games a month. You can change your list based on who you're fighting, but can't change your codex. I have played 3 matches now, and a few pickups, and have been unable to win, or even come close. It's...frusterating to say the least. I'll post the lists of the last army I used and my opponents.

IG: 750 pts
CCS, 2 x Snipers (Taken as a filler, low cost HQ)
Vets: 3 x plasma, Chimera
Vets: 3 x plasma, Chimera
Lemun Russ Exterminater with Pask

Blood Angels:

2 Assault Squads, 5 models each, each with 1 melta

Thought I'd have it...killed his troops, but got stomped by the other 2. Similar to my other games.

I think you are spending far too many points on your Exterminator. The best Leman Russ (imo) is a bare-bones LRBT. 150 points is a good price for a Battle Cannon on an AV14 frame.

It looks like you are trying to play IG like Space Marines - something that they cannot do well. You need more bodies or much more firepower to really stand apart.

Knowing what models you have access to would be useful, but as I do not have this information i will simply share my 750 list. it is surprisingly similar to yours.

CCS 135 -3 Meltaguns, Chimera
Veteran Squad 170 -3 Plasmaguns, Chimera

My list has 40 bodies to your 25, with no real sacrifice in firepower. The LRBT is incredibly efficient in low point games such as this. The PCS will ride in the Vendetta, giving you a mobile scoring unit in reserve that can clear objectives. You also have 1-2 (depending if you join them) Infantry Squads to sit on home objectives and provide fire support with their Autocannons. I have had great success with my list, and hopefully it will provide some inspiration.

Also, someone taking Mephiston and the Sanguinor sounds like TFG. He's asking to get tabled. I would tell him to play a real army, lol.

I think, perhaps, that you may be right in that I"m playing to play them like space marines. I suppose numbers are our strong suit. Past experiences have made me wary though, and I think I went to chimera vets armed to the nines as a counter.

Talking with another buddy, am i wrong in assuming that having a small number, 1-2 Chimera Vets is goods, as long as I can back them up with the tanks or the numbers of guardsmen, is a good idea? I used to run a foot slogging army, and I did note that having such a large number of forces helped.

What is the ratio though? Between "Elite" killing troops, and weight of number troops for holding objs and rolling dice.
