Just brainstorming here, but what if there was another game type for 40k that was a bit like Combat Patrol, but even simpler? A version of 40k that would be a great way to start, and also play in tournaments because of carefully balancing what you could take?
Here's my idea.
Insurgency
Uses the core rules for 40k.
All units are Independent Characters in addition to their other types and may take wargear options from their respective armories. All armories are equipped with the following:
Missile Launcher - Krak, Frag, and Flakk for 25 points.
Each model may therefore act as it's own unit but takes - 2 to its leadership value if it is alone and takes a pinning test if it is hit at all by enemy ranged fire unless it was already an Independent Character. (War is terrifying! Imagine being on your own through it!)
Must be played on a board that is at least 50% ruins or similar cover.
All ruins have an armor value of 11 and 3 HP's unless stated otherwise.
All vehicles are double their listed points cost, including upgrades!
Ideas? Suggestions? Thoughts? I am welcome to anything that might improve the game.
