The zzap cannons are there mostly because I had 180 points left, and only 6 cannon models. I was considering adding another 30 boys in, but I have noticed that 180 boys makes deployment hard, and often the rear 2 squads do not get hit, nor do they fire. I was considering adding in some kans, but at 1850, people tend to bring a smattering of anti-vehicular shooting. Any thoughts on what to do instead of zzaps? I do quite enjoy ap 2 and half decent aiming/damage.

Don't do Zzaps' either take Lobbas or Kannons.

Lobbas are great for dealing with things behind ADL's.

I would almost try to fit one more big gunz battery in there as well. And drop the Klaw from the Mek. If anything give him a Burna so he can flame things.

Its going to be hard to move all those boys in a timely fashion though.

Split the lootas into 3 groups, makes it more efficient to place and target priority, replace the ZZAPP with Lobbas as you will just give away cover saves with your hordes of orks anyways, so why care about the AP2.

Lastly Green horde is a lot of fun at home with friends, at a tourney, you will struggle to do 3 turns, which isn't always a fun game but if you play it real passive on your side, most armies will struggle to get a win vs you in 3 turns, to many bodies to kill, and you can pull off draws

3 units of 10 lootas are ideal as you get more choice in targets. However your list will have the worst time against land raiders as only the big meks can consecutively penetrate AV14. Also about the zappas: make them kannons and use the spare points to make the nobs w/ BC instead have PK. that way you can deal with high armour in close combat and have more choice with the kannons in terms of targets.

In terms of competitive use it will drive your opponent up the wall trying to deal with the large mobs, who are also being protected by the big meks (good choice), but it will be an absolute pain to move every last model in your army and will take forever and a half to do all the attacks with your boyz.

This is a 1848 point list that won a tournament over here, people these days generally dont create list in advance to think they will face a greentide tournament wise as it takes allot of time.. and stuff. Warbosses for taking out heavy armor along with just being a denial unit that can also quickly grab linebreaker and use his T6 to it's max.

I am suprised someone has responded to this! I thought it was dead for sure. You bring up some interesting points. AV14 does pose some threats, but honestly, if they bring a land raider, I'm great. they spent 200+ points on something that is little threat to the boyz. A monolith? I'm screwed, I'll just have to avoid it. But that's just how orks work.
I've toyed with the list a bit, been doing some practice games. Dropped the big gunz, as they are essentially just points I could use on Lootas. It's now looking more like this;

Big Mek Kustom Force Field, Klaw
Big Mek Kustom Force Field, Klaw

30x Shoota boys, big choppa/bosspole nob, 3x big shootas
30x Shoota boys, big choppa/bosspole nob, 3x big shootas
30x Shoota boys, big choppa/bosspole nob, 3x big shootas
30x Shoota boys, big choppa/bosspole nob, 3x big shootas

15x Lootas
15x Lootas
15x Lootas

Sky shield

I still have a few points to toy with (~30), but that's the general idea. I like the sky shield as it guarantees good line-of-sight terrain for the Lootas on my table half, and gives an insane 4++ I-save. I've dropped down to 4 blobs if dudes because I have noticed most armies struggle to finish off 2 full squads by turn 5, and I am often left with 1-2 squads that never get into the fight when I run a 6-squad list. The big shootas are there to force grounding checks and generally harass things that the boys would never usually be able to engage (mostly for parking lots and flying circuses that leave the boys useless save for camping objectives). I may toy around, drop a Mek and some Lootas for another 30 man blob and just daisy-chain all mobs to the one Mek, but this is pretty much how the list is going to look.

This list would be so cool if it worked, but it won't. Your lootas will perish to the riptide, wraith knight, heldrake (choose one). Your Boyz won't make it across the field. It's simply not competitive in today's meta, plain and simple. Try this on vassal before you paint 180 Boyz. I have the Boyz. And they're painted. I'm so frustrated w them it's made me not play for months.

Personally I love your list. Hoards are so hard to take down and woul require an entire army of shooting to even dent it. Your lootas will deal with 95% of the tanks and walkers and your boyz will mop up the infentry.

As for the bigger stuff like riptides and wraith knight remember they only have about 4-5 attacks when charged. full squad of 30 may lose at most 3 guys while 27 guys, including your S7 on the charge Nob will attack back. and even if you did nothing to it: your mob is fearless so no harm no foul and the big nasty will be locked in combat for a loooong time.

Finally flyers: loota them up. the most a normal flyer will have in terms of AV is 12 so lootas can pen. "you need 6s" to hit" well lootas hit on 5s normally anyway. trust me when I say a full 45 shots at a flyer will take it down. Also they turn up turn 2 onwards, so your lootas have a free turn gunning down tanks and weak infentry.

From a competitive stand point it wont get to the top tables mainly because of Wave serpents. I fought 180 orks allied with crons (wraiths + lord, scythe + 5 warriors) with my comped Eldar at Da boyz, he had 7 models left at the end of the game. The KFF isn't the greatest in this edition with all the ignores cover stuff.

I think you should be less spammy for the sake of redunancy and take more diverse units.

HQ
Big Mek - 85pts
-KFF

ELITES
3 x 8 Lootas - 120 (360pts) (more then 8 is over kill against most targets)

TROOPS
2x 10 grots - 40(80pts)
3x 30 orks - 220(660pts)
- klaw, pole

FAST
3x Dakkajets - 120(360pts)

HEAVY
3x 3 kannons - 60(180pts)

FORT
ADL with Quad - 100pts.

Personally I think you should drop a unit of lootas for storm boyz but whatever that's just my style of play.

For an infantry spam list to be effective, you need sufficient anti-air/tank power or the defensive capabilities to defend against them. I know natta about the ork dex so thats all I got.

Green tide works at tourneys. You just need to practice to make it work. Good list. As far as anti tank stuff take lootas or blitzabommas and you'll walk all over most armies. Eldar smeldar, i run the green tide all day and unless the eldar player is gunning for me specifically, i win my fights 85 to 95 percent of the time. Good luck an WAAAGH!!!!!!

I'd try to work in Lobbas, Maybe a Dakka Jet to scare other flyers or at least force them to think. First time you run into a 3 heldrake army you are going to hate life.

I run a similar list, but use a few less boys to get a Warboss in a battlewagon (with his melee companions) and the flyer with lobba support. I don't have a full 45 Lootas yet either, so I run some bikes to act as a distraction down one side of the map.

However, while not the best in the current meta, as someone pointed out, people just don't prepare to face the green tide anymore. Hell, last time I trotted out a bucket of boys, the guy on the other end had never faced an ork player and was fully expecting the mythical "nobstar" he had read about, not 120 boys with artillery, flyers and armored transport, supported by Lootas.

not sure this would survive wave serpent spam to be honest.. I only take 4 and I am seen as conservative.. my mix is warp spiders, vypers, wave serpents.. that is a lot of str 6 shooting (I take 93 +4d6 str 6/7 shots, usually) I dunno what armour / feel no pain these orks have but "saves" aside that's about 60 dead orks a go.. and all of them can then relocate at least 24 inches.. I am not sure they would get across the table

Plus there is a little tactic called denied flank, placing all your models to one side cuts out half the green tide from doing anything. You then Start from one end and work your way over. Odds are you lose 24 orks alone from 4 wave serpents. Not to mention if you have night spinners, warp spiders, swooping hawks, shadow weavers or those things that ride in the serpents, oh what are they called.... Right Guardians and Dire avengers that eat orks alive.

I like this list. this is a mob. My 2c though is at 30 boys I don't find any use in bosspoles. I usually don't fall to under 11 models til they're into CC and even then a reroll is not going to save the boys from being overrun due to the modifier for losing combat.

numbers will win many matches as most are objective missions, and he has only 9 units for kill points, and won't give up points for fast or heavy when those missions come up. the lootas can easily pop a transport for first blood before losing a 30boy mob.

@Ravenous D have you used weirdboys with your 3 jets? Or is that just to gimmicky for a shot at an extra waaaaagh?

Its 170pts to try and make your planes better. Any of the other powers can seriously mess up your forces. I wouldn't invest too many points into it working. It can also hand over warlord to your opponent without him trying.

The warboss with a klaw and bike isn't bad, as he can separate and wreck up vehicles and lone squads on his own. Just hide him out with the rest of the boyz.
