hey guys! when i got started nobody told me about any kind of formula or template on how to build an army list. since using the template i have now, ALL of my lists are balanced and do well! so here are my 8 points on what to take into consideration when building an army list

1. Terminators (2+3+)
2. AV-14
3. Hordes (Squads of 10-30; T3 & T4)
4. Flyers
5. (Flying) Monstrous Creatures
6. MEQ (Squads of 10)
7. Claiming Objectives
8. First Blood

*synergy is a good way to save points (for example, a Quad Gun is anti-flyers, anti-MEQ and anti-horde), however it can potentially weaken the army list, because if there are few units performing a majority of roles, then your opponent need wipe out only certain key units in order to better help him/her win the game

also i made a video about how to do it that goes into more detail
