Devastating Dark Reaper

Hi guys
I'm kindda wondering, are jetbike autarchs any good? I plan to stick them with windrider jetbikes, and give the autarch scorpion chainsword,Fusion gun,and howling banshee mask.
Probably will use him in 500 points game, with 3 warwalkers with scatter laser in the back providing fire support for the autarch and the windriders

Hey man, I don't use an Autarch unless I plan on using ALOT of reserves. However if you are going to give him a weapon make it a power sword. Fusion is good. Make sure you put a warlock w/conceal on bike so they have 2+ cover save. But definitely make sure you are going to use that reserve benefit to the maximum potential.

It is the rule in war, if ten times the enemy's strength, surround them; if five times, attack them; if double, be able to divide them; if equal, engage them; if fewer, be able to evade them; if weaker, be able to avoid them. - Sun Tzu |

Usually if the autarch is on a bike (which is a very good way to use him) the best weapon is a laser lance. Basically with a scorpion sword or a conventional power weapon he lacks the punch to challenge other codexes' characters, or to inflict many wounds on squads. And if he has a laser lance, you want to get him hit and run - take the mantle of the laughing god. This is generally considered a very good loadout for a character. He can kill tanks, launch assaults on backfield units, and is almost immune to any shooting without the 'ignores cover' rule. All you have to do is keep him away from assaults with anything that will kill him.

The mantle arch is pretty good. He tank hunts and cleans up small squads and soaks up fire power like no tomorrow. He can generally cause havoc on people and they have to waste a lot of energy to deal with him.
Unless you play against tau. Then its just meh.

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

Devastating Dark Reaper

Hi guys
thanks for the replies, I will use him in a small 500 points tournament, and Im not allowed to use relics or artifacts so no mantle to use. I have played the 1st tournament which is yesterday,I placed 2nd with my Serpent spam list and it did kindda good but I'm looking for variaty again. The tournament has restrictions for the games which is:
No unit wound more than 3
No 2+ armor saves
No vehicle with the total sum of AV more than 34
No flyer
No Artifact
No reserve units (that means no drop pod too)
No Deep strikes
No Fortifications
No special character
Rules about FOC:
1 HQ
2 Troops
you can only take 1 from Elite, fast attack, Heavy support (pick only 1)
and you can ONLY take 1 HQ and 2 Troops at maximum
So I need tips on giving the autarch some blings

Given the restrictions, I would throw him in a unit of 6 bikes. with 2 Shuriken cannons. Give the Autarch a reaper launcher. Decent firepower at 24" and at that range you are safe from assault.

Well, a Jetseer is the better support character than an Autarch who is quite situational.
A Jetseer with guide, prescience, and psychic shriek (primaris powers) can buff two units in the shooting phase and can eliminate this last Berzerker who refuses to die.

Yes,dem Jetseer will butcher units, but sadly I can't take him since he is a level 3 psyker, the maximum level for that is 2.

Man tough break for Eldar Jetbike characters with those rules. Still, the Autarch can fill some useful roles without a Mantle. Using him to shoot with a Reaper Launch, as extremefreak17 mentioned, is a good option. As is using a Laser Lance to assault with Shining Spears. Even with Guardian Bikes he can make assaulting a viable option because he just has so many good attacks on the charge. Against a dwindled unit you are still likely to wipe them out without taking losses. A Fusion Gun is nice to have if you have the points to spare. It opens anti-tank capability for very few points.
