Hello all!

So I have actually used my new ultrasonic to give my old airbrush a good cleaning.

Now, I know that simple green is a favourite of many, but since it's not available here I will have to find something else.

My first try was with Cilit Bang Powercleaner that seemed to have the same areas of use as Simple Green. The first test was just rubbing a bit of paint with a soaked quetip and it worked nicely. Since that worked I know it could disolve the paint so the next step was full scale in the ultrasonic.

Now it had dissolved some BUT where there was a paint build-up the paint had turned rubbery and even though it was easily removed with a toothpick it still needed to be removed by hand.

Why did this happen and is there something I should think of in selecting a cleaner to avoid this?

You might have needed to run it again. I have an old Masters G22 (very cheap) airbrush that I usedto shoot gloss varnish and it had some paint and ink dried on. It took 3 cycles in Simple Green to get stuff loose enough to clean it.

I rand 5-6 cycles at 480 seconds and there was no difference... That's to say, they paint came of easily enough. But when it comes to the inside of the airbrush I would prefer dissolving the paint so I don't have to risk damaging the insides of the airbrush.
