I have a load of sci-fi minis that I'd love to convert or use, and I'm loving the sculpts for all the MERCs stuff.
So... what is it?
I know nothing about it.
There is a rules demo on youtube. I believe done by Beasts of War.
The minis are quite nice. The rules for the most part are easy to digest, a few poorly written aspects
IMO but nothing that' can't be solved with an
FAQ or the use of the internet. You only need 5 minis and that's it. The dice combat system could have been streamlined and simplified, not that I would want them to copy infinity, but that game doesn't make it a bit of a dice fest. The Snap to cover rules make cover and terrain a breeze to use during a game.
You don't need a rule as range is infinite unless otherwise noted and all movement is used with the stat cards. It's both unique and a pain in the ass, I constantly find myself having to move terrain out of the way because I have to use the movement cards or you have to take your time during setup and place terrain to make sure the cards can fit in all areas of the board which is time consuming and turns the game into a Napoleonic miniatures game where you are just firing rounds from across the board over and over.
If you are looking for a side game, I highly recommend it. Only need 5 minis, even then you can use what you have. Stat cards are available by themselves and the rule book is only 30 or 40 bucks.
If you are looking for a new "go to main" game, I would pick up something else.
