I already have a fairly decent force in black templers used as regular marines, and want to start a IG force to better combine there extra men and heavier firepower to give my marines some longer ranged firepower and more bodies to put in the way of the enemy's advance.

Thinking of mainly infriantry, artillary or heavier weapons to better form a second line and provide my marines some bigger guns.

Fluff wise I don't,t mind so much, but as templers, since when did they care for the codex, or impiums petty rules

Wait for the new codex. I think it's suppose to come out next month. Who knows, maybe you will want to start a full IG, or should I say Astrum whatever it's called.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Wait for the codex to plan, perhaps, but buy your models now. When a new codex comes out, it always has an attendant price hike.

Future guard will very likely have both mech and foot options, so just get yourself some chimeras and guardsmen with lasguns and start painting them up while you wait.

I have Black Templar.
I have IG.
Ailaros is spot-on I think: get some grunts, some heavy weapons and special weapons and some Chimeras would be the safest and could be used right away.
If you get too excited, get a Leman Russ kit and liberal use of magnets to adapt to whatever new meta is released with the Codex.

Thanks for the help, I already have one basic cadian sqaud, the easy 3 part version to test my urban camoflarge/digital pattens and eventually roll into other sqauds as needed.
