So there is an anything goes (escalation, stronghold, data slates, the whole shebang) tournament at my FLGS later in the year, and I'm trying to find a list for it. Two thousand points (double FoC if you wish, allies, inquisition etc.) I have a powerful Taudar list, but trying for something with my Necrons - is it just not strong enough?

The central idea is a well protected fire base of 3 sentry pylons with Gauss and a Destroyer Lord attached, netting them Preferred Enemy. So thats 6 Str 9 ap 2 BS 4 shots (sky fire and interceptor) rerolling 1s to hit and wound... 72" range. Sat within a void shield with a bubble wrap of wraiths. Is it enough Dakka? Other armies can put out such massive amounts... Just trying to find a way to put out a reliable unit deleting firebase for Necrons...

Bugger. Didnt think about the signature systems being unique. I'll need to have a wee ponder. Might get a vsg instead of the second comander to deal with potential Revenant Titans etc...

The Necron list looks good though.

I personally think the Taudar list needs more troops, but I might be a bit biased since I run 72 Kroot in my list!

I just ran a similar taudar list at a tourney,
I went 2-2-1
If it was anything goes..
Id take a necron list with the trancendant Ctan
I did a tourney with the Ctan and was undefeated...
your oppenents wont like you regardless

If it is a anything goes that includes Escalation why not consider some of the easy to make your own, Super Heavies or the even easier Transcendant C'Tan.

A Transcendant C'Tan is insane by the way. He has a D Hellstorm Template.

You also have the option of Necron Tesseract Ark.

You will most definitely see some super heavies and need a reliable way to deal with them.

I figured the sentry pylons with preferred enemy would be pretty good for super heavy management. It's that or the C'Tan basically.

I have played the Tranny C'Tanny before btw. And it was fun. Wrecked a white scars tournament list.

Out of curiosity where do you get the void shield generator? Is that a fortification I don't know about, I have 6 pylons and a size able necron army but I've never heard of such a thing. I usually stick my pylons on a skyshield for the 4++. Should I be doing something different?

Void shield generators are from Stronghold Assault. They give you an AV 12 force field which lasts until penetrated and protects everything within 12" of the generator from shooting attacks generated outside the bubble.

Even though the pylons are toughness 7, they are susceptible AP3 weapons so thought they needed some protection.

How do you find the pylons? Which type have you played. I like the idea of the Death Ray variant. I have just ordered three and was planning on running a unit of 2 death ray ones if I didn't use the three gauss. What do you think of my plan of attaching a D Lord for preferred enemy?
