Deffkoptas-225pts

This list is meant fight eldar and chaos. Gretchin are for screening the boyz. Boyz are for assaulting. Deffkoptas to kill tanks, dreads, whatever could trouble the mob. Any thoughts?

Need pointers to make better!

Some thoughts:
The first thing I notice is the lack of anti armour. A landraider crusader or two will give this list a lot of trouble, unless you can manage to get a nob with a power klaw stuck in, and since they're footslogging that won't be very reliable. The deffkoptas are decent anti-armour, but they aren't especially reliable, and since they're the only ranged anti-armour this list has you can bet they'll be focus-fired for sure. And since they're being taken as a group (at 225 points I guess that's five or six of them?) as soon as one or two of them go down they've got a decent chance to break and flee.

A better HQ choice for a horde like this would be a big mek with a kustom force field, IMO. It'll provide your boys with a little extra cover save besides the gretchin screen to get a few more of them to the enemy lines, and it'll save you some points to pick up some other stuff to round out the army a bit.

Some big guns would be a nice addition, to boost the anti-armour capabilities of the list.

Otherwise looks like a pretty scary horde list, with plenty of boys to soak up fire, which is exactly what you need. Don't forget to kit them out with shootas for best results. Best of luck!

Could you give us the amount of boys and koptas? From what you've given us I'd say that you should split your koptas into different squads. Your Nob probably doesn't need 'eavy armor so with the extra 5 points per nob you could give the squad of boyz a big shoota. I agree with @Jambles your HQ should be a big mek with KFF, but if the model you have is a Warboss with mega armor, then that's what you've got.

This army contains 120 Boyz, 60 gretchin, 5 deffkoptas, and the warboss. I like the idea of the big guns. Would killa kans work in a list like this?

For the anti armor which seems to be a problem you'll run into maybe think about dropping the gretchin in exchange for some boyz in a trukk with pk. Well two trukks...... it's a cheap trick but if you give the trukks rpj and boarding plank then you'll be able to drive by land raiders and give em a nice krumpin. Even if they focus on taking them out then you just got your boyz up the board and saved them that many shots. Also drop the WB for the BMKFF.

I plan on running a similar list with the addition of zagstruk. Plan being deff koptas scout and assault turn 1, stormboyz turn 2, giving the boyz a chance to cross the table.

A warphead could help too to deepstrike closer turn 2 and help the stormboyz, though they cannot assault.

Even kommandos with snikrot could help in distracting the enemy till the green tide hits.

Hi There!

I would consider consider dropping the nobz if your boyz are running around with shootas. I find Nobz are a waste of points majority of the time. Boss poles are probably not worth it as well, as often by the time you're taking LD tests you need double 1.

With the deff koptas I like to take units of 1 with a buzz saw and reserve them. That way you don't have to worry about LD.

If you take Kill kans then I suggest grot zookas and max them out. You'll want a KFF mek for them as well or run them behind the boy squads.
