Scenario:
I have a unit of 3 Centurions and I join Brother Corbulo (BA IC) to the unit. They are hit with a lascannon shot with Corbulo out front.

Would Brother Corbulo get his 2+ FNP due to the Centurions making the majority toughness of the unit 5 or would it be denied due to the S9 shot being placed on a T4 model?

ID is done on a model-to-model basis. Corbs gets hit by the S9 and goes splat.

Multiple Toughness Values (page 14) tells you to how to resolve the "To Wound" roll of a shooting attack, it doesn't tell you to alter the entire unit's actual toughness for any reason - it just sets the target score for the roll.

Instant Death (page 16) tells you to compare the Strength of the attack to the Toughness of the model, not unit.
