I like this new supplement, but I'm not sure how it'll play out. Here's a list I thought would be all around solid. Below each entry I have made some comments for how well I think each unit will do and what each unit will be effective for.
HQ
-Kranon the Relentless - Plasma Pistol, Sig of Corruption, Blade of the Relentless, Daemon Heart, Slaughter's Horns
(Not sure how this guy will do. He needs 3 kills to get really deadly. At 5 kills, he'll be Strength 7 on the charge. Goddamn.)
TROOPS
-Possessed x8 - No transport.
(I think these guys can footslog behind some rhinos. They're either going to move fast or have at least a 3++. They'll be fine in the open.)
-Chaos Space Marines x10 - Rhino w/ Dirge Caster, x2 Flamer
(all around solid)
ELITES
-Plague Marines x7 - Rhino w. Dirge Caster, Plasma gun x2
(again, all around solid.)
-Termintors x5 - MoT, Combi-Meltas x4, Heavy Flamer x1, PF x2
(these guys deepstrike usually. Primary function is to take out heavy armor. The flamer is good for overwatch and inflict 5 extra wounds on terminators if they shoot at them, or even smoke out some tau/guard)
FAST ATTACK
-Heldrake - baleflamer
(the god unit of CSM)
HEAVY SUPPORT
- Obliterators x2 - MoN
(the swiss army knife of CSM)
-Havocs x5 - Autocannons x2, Lascannons x2
(I find this formation the most useful in taking out any tank with AV 10 - 12)
I think this army would be ok. Against Tau/Guard, the drake and the Oblits would try to flame as many guards man as possible so the charge of the possessed is strong. I think this list would fair fine against DA, Dark Eldar, Space Wolves, Space Marines, Nids?, and others. Tell me what you think! Hopefully you've read the new supplement.
