How much will get painted
Nothing, upon approaching the sheer quantity of guard you'll collapse to your knees and weep softly
A few squads, but not quite half
More than half
Everything, because friends and the outside are distractions from the emperors will

I'm on a weeks leave and its one of the only chances I'll get for a while to get painting and building. I bought a ton of guard as allies for my IA Armoured Company, and even converted up a shotgun vet squad. Heres the challenge:

One week is a long time. Put your heart into it and paint 24/7 and I think you could get all of it done. Giant production style painting haha.

Good luck.

Update: Just finished basing all the models, ready to spray as soon as they are dry. Also have done all my tanks unit markings, but still a lot of work on them to go.

I dig the tank collection!

No idea how much you'll get done because I have no idea how complex your paint scheme is, but I wish you luck.

You have your work cut out for you, I wish you luck!! I've got a similar situation coming up soon, 1850-2000 points of Ravenwing on my week long vacation starting 4/7, should be a good time!

Just don't get distracted and I think you'll do just fine. But don't rush yourself and make a mistake you'll kick yourself for.

Update: Thought I'd experiment weathering one of my russes. My previous army was GK's and I always went with a sqeaky clean paint job so wanted to change it up a bit. Used the sponge technique from Imperial Armour Masterclass V2. I'm happy with how it turned out, tell me what you think!

Thought about using seraphim sepia on the rivets too, but not sure if it needs it.

I also sorted the unit markings on all my vehicles. On the russes the white wing signifies 'Angel' (A) Company, the number is the tank no within the company and the red square with the triangle is the Division marking.

With the chimeras I went with a slightly different system to show they are different regiments. They share the division marking, but the unit marking is different. Here the A signifies A/1st company, the 2 shows 2nd platoon, and the 0 signifies command. So this chimera belongs to 2nd platoon A company Command Squad. The blue is also a regiment thing, all the troops will have their left shoulder blue and the conscripts will get a blue stripe too.

Let me know what you think! (Infantry still need spraying but should get them mostly done tomorrow as its a quick job with the airbrush)

I said half of them but then I counted them and am skeptical. It really depends on the qaulity you are going for haha
If I had a full week off from everything and I was motivated enough I could paint all my skaven army (which is a ton of models the true horde army) but I don't have a week free to do nothing haha.

If you have a week free from work or school or hanging out with friends then I could see you finishing this no problem. If you are just doing this at night I don't think it will happen but we shall see now won't we haha

Cheers btw I've gone with a simple scheme. Airbrush a coat of tallarn sand, then another airbrush coat of karak stone (thats the light colour of my tanks). Then wash any clothing with seraphim sepia, and skin with reikland fleshshade. After that one shoulder will be painted kantor blue. That will be them table ready, and i can just do highlights and extra detail when i feel like it. I'm at the airbrush stage now, just need to get to my FLGS and buy tallarn sand and karak stone in bulk.

Given they are already assembled and the tanks basecoated, I don't see why you couldn't get them all done if you have no other commitments. Your arms may be very sore by the end of it though, lol. Given how long it takes me to paint a guardsman, I could probably do all the infantry in 2-3 days if I had nothing else to do, then detailing and weathering the tanks are probably a few a day, though some of the techniques I use take a while to dry so that might slow me down.

Update: Well the spraying is all done, took longer than I thought as tallarn sand doesn't stick brilliantly.

Did the whole lot with 2 pots of tallarn sand and 1 of karak stone

Tonight I'm gonna see how many I can get through, starting with the conscripts!

Wishing you luck

That is a truely large amount of models. I had a think, and IMO, I could probably only do 30 guardsmen and 4 tanks...

I'm in a similar situation... I'm starting an ABG army for a campaign at my FLGS. We start in 13 days, and I'm still waiting for 1250 points worth of tanks to arrive xD I dont want them all painted, but built and primed at the very least.

You weathering looks great, imo. What did you do? Just a sponge method with dark brown?
Also, what are you using for your unit markings? Custom decals / free hand / pen?

Cheers Yeah just a bit of sponge from a GW case. Most of it was a 2/1 mix of scorched brown and black concentrating on any edges, then pure black around the vents, weapons and exhausts and a small amount of boltgun along the edges of the hull and doors. The tracks I just sponged a lot heavier than anywhere else. All the unit markings are from the standard IG vehicle transfer sheet.

I finished the conscripts! So dman many of them! Was more time consuming than I thought it would be, freehanding their blue stripes was an awkward job, but here they are:

Let me know what you think

Edit: I'll be playing my first game with them all tonight as well, 3000pts. Hopefully I'll be putting up a batrep for it

Oh how true.. But half the fun of guard is watching your regiment grow! Also those guardsmen are looking great, very crisp, know that you make the Emperor proud!
