Hi there. My first 2 40k kits were a Tyranid tyrannofex and trygon. Unfortunately i wasn't too experienced with painting at the time and they look like a 5 year old painted them. I used Testors enamel based paints as well as the GW paint line. I've heard some ideas like Castrol Super Clean and Easy Off. I tried the Easy Off, let it soak overnight and in the morning some paint came off, but most was still on there. I live in one of the smaller cities in Canada population around 30000 and I cant find Super Clean anywhere(apparently its the best stuff). some of the stores here are Wal-mart, Canadian Tire, and Home Hardware. give me some ideas and remember that it can't damage the models at all

Doing some googeling and it looks like Simple Green is the answer.

The Simple Green Website shows that it is sold in Canada at Walmart., Canadian Tire, Home Depot, Home Hardware Stores, KT Products, Cost Co, TruServ, and TSC Stores.

Good Luck.

Oh and there is always Amazon.com

careful with simple green, you can over do it. I stripped the paint of a land raider by submerging it in simple green for a week and then scrubbing it. The thing was dried, aired out, painted and sealed and when you hold the thing in your hands you can still smell the simple green.

Most vehicle (and some MC) kits also have a lot of hollow parts that liquids can seep into through small gaps, making them a pain to empty if they've been soaked whole. Did that with an old Rhino, but there was little smell after a good rinse and none at all after an air dry and subsequent priming. I'd wager you had SG still sitting inside when you set it to dry, DJGietzen, hence the lingering smell (a thin layer evaporates away, a small pool will turn into a crust that keeps on smelling for some time). For completely solid or very open models, there's no over doing it - just rinse it thoroughly.

the longer the better, especally with Simple Green as it isnt really as awesome as Super Clean. Super Clean also goes by the name of Purple Power. Both of which i have found in US Wallmarts in the automotive section.

i stripped some Rhinos i had painted back in 2000 during 3rd Ed, i used simple green and it took about a week for it to get down to primer.

Remember to wash it thoroughly with water after you got it scrubbed down. If you are really looking to get the smell out, 120 degrees in the oven, place in there till dry, it shouldn't melt the plastic and should dry out all of the liquid out of the cracks you cant get to.
