So ive yet to buy the new 6th ed codex, but ive been toying around with a few ideas. Im not sure what 6th edition did to the tyranids but i heard it was bad. nontheless, i want to make a semi-competitive list that uses trygon(s) and raveners. The army will be a fast attack aggression army that puts early pressure on the opponent. obviously il be using a flyrant and possibly a haruspex or something. Hormagaunts also sound good as they can swarm out of a trygon hole. again im not to familiar with tyranids (or 40k army list building in general ) and was hoping i could get some help with this idea. doesnt have to be too competitive (im looking at you tervigon spammers) as im mostly looking at fluff/aesthetics. on a side note im aalso interested in mono-daemons(khorne). my only concern is that it will be up-the-donkey-cave expensive cuz daemons are just that way thanks to GW..... thoughts?

I've posted a couple of Trygon tunnel based concept armies, so you might look for them for ideas. Both of them use "Endless Swarm" Formations, but the ideas are valid with out them, and are set at low as well as high point totals.

Thanks that is perfect! I didn't mention it in the original post but I was considering using the new endless swarm formation from the datasheet! First time in a forum that the first reply was perfect lol. oh and, as i stated before, tyranids are generally less expensive than daemons yes? Kinda tight on money so.... Yea. I know its kinda a vague comparison but im hoping someone can give me a general idea of it. once i get home i can try and cost compare.

I don't know about cost of one vs the other, because I only play Nids I'd say check out E-bay and see what is for sale, and for how much...

I remember seeing several Nid armies going cheap, but that was a while ago...

3 trygons, 2 Swarm boxes, a Warrior brood, and a flyrant. Probably about $475 from Discount Games Store. That will get you a decent list:

Flyrant, tldev. . 230
Trygon x3. 600
Gargoyles x20. 120
Termagants x10 40
Termagants x10 40
Endless Swarm dataslate. 705
(3x 20 Termagants)
(3x 25 Hormagaunts)
(Warriors x3)

That's 1735 points or so, you could add in a few upgrades or bodies to fill it out. The little guys come back on 4+, through the trygon holes ideally, and you overwhelm with numbers and speed. Cheers!

I was thinking about this while I ate Breakfast....

"Endless Tunnel Assault IV(?)

HQ: Winged Tyrant, I run a "Winged assasain" with Lash, Bone, and Toxic. Most everyone else on earth runs 2x TL Brain leeches 230 either way
I add upgrades to the Asassain as I go...

Troops: Warrior Brood (x3) Deathspitters x2, Rending claws x2, Cannon 120
Troops: Warriors as above 120

Trygon: Prime 230
Trygon: Prime 230

Total: 850

Endless Swarm (585)

Warrior Brood: as above 120
Hormigaunt Brood x15, x3 225
Spinegaunt/Termigant Brood x15, x3 180

Total 1435. I'd toss in a Venothrope for 45, drop 1 Hormy, and upgrade my assasain with Brain leeches, and a Thorax Hive =1500
If you run the Winged Dakka'rant you could buy a Miasma Cannon instead.....

You set the Hormies in a triangle with the point towards you, and put the Veno, and Warriors in the middle, they run each turn till you close.
This forces your enemy to make one of two foolish choices.
1) Pour fire into the Hormies till they are gone. This even matches the fluff for Hormigaunts While this is happening you can manuever your army at will.
2) Get charged by CC bugs , with support. This is even more foolish than one. Use the Strangle cannon to try for pin tests, so the lack of grenades becomes meaningless. The Veno can even pile in, and use it's 2+ poison attacks

Each time you lose a brood, it pops up in Reserve, on a 4+. Hopefully by the time that happens, you'll have a well placed Trygon tunnel in place.
