Gidday all, so I'm predominantly a Corregidor guy but also with a dash of vanilla due to the existence of the szalamandra (its nice, try it sometime )

Anyway, even though they're often praised I've never actually tried running Moran's, or lunkhods for that matter and this is probably due to a past preference on aesthetics. However things change and I'm also looking at some other options for defensive tactics. Normally I have a wildcat link with a HRL which forms an easy firebase with intruders, toms and hells doing the hard yards. I'm thinking of trying something a bit different with dropping link teams but still staying within the sectorial. Recently I've read up on crazy koalas and I'll say mines are definitely nice, but these seem even better.

So we got two boats for these fellas, Moran's and lunkhods. I'm wondering what you peoples thoughts and experiences with them are.
From a look at them these are mine:
Both seem to have a different play style, the lunkhods more aggressive and the Moran's more defensive. Statwise they are similar but the REM actually has armour so can risk a hit or two. A definitive advantage with the Moran is that its a specialist (why wouldnt you take the FO...) and also has infiltrate. So deploy on or near an objective, take it and cover your tracks with the koalas.
The lunkhod on the other hand won't be looking at objectives. With his load out and speed I'd imagine going cheerleader hunting or something of the sort. If you could use cover the koalas should stop anyone trying to get the drop on you and so leave you free to lay out some templates.

So I feel overall that the Moran is probably more useful and it is cheaper if you have swc kicking about, but once again there's a lot of support for both of these guys so how do they compare?

If your attack is going too well, you have walked into an ambush

The easy way is always mined

The only experience I have with Lunokhods is running them in Bakunin and I like playing defensively with Zero Minelayers, Prowlers and Sin-Eaters.

The Koalas mix really well the mines for area denial. I usually leave it on the left or right edge of my deployment so it can use the 6-4 move to flank and to discourage AD Infiltration with the Koalas and heavy flamethrower ARO. With Climbing+, repeater and the templates it's my go to link team hunter. Usually worth trading hits if you can catch the majority of the link with the flamethrower, especially HI, Tohaa or Myrmidon links.

It does have Minesweeper which is an overlooked skill because you're gambling on passing the WIP roll to avoid the mine template and you can't sweep through walls. The only time I use minesweeper is when the Lunokhod runs into a mine I thought was a model then its way better than dodging on a 2.

Never used the Morans so can't really comment on them.

I've been on the receiving end of the Morans quite a bit. They rule, so much so that they plus Wildcats and convinced me to start Corregidor recently. I can speak to what an opponent thinks of them:

Their Infiltrate makes them a much more effective speed-bump. One of the great arts of Infinity is staying alive if you go second, and Morans are a great help for this. They and their koalas create a buffer zone that's harder to get through than koalas will just hanging out in your DZ.

As for Lunakhods, I can't speak to them directly (having never been on the receiving end nor yet fielded them). But bots with flamethrowers do great things against linkteams, ODD, and camo, like others have said.

If I had to choose betweent he two, I'd say go for the FO Morans. Not only will they make a nastier speedbump (mimetism plus cover is better than ARM2 anyday), but being an FO in a forward position makes them an even higher priority for opponents to remove. And if they don't die, you've got a great objective-grabber.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Lunokhods have ARM3.

Climbing Plus combined with a Heavy Flamethrower and Boarding Shotgun make the Lunokhod a fearsome assault Remote once it gets close but range is it's biggest downside. If you're laying down smoke from McMurrough or Lupe to help advance your Specialists and/or shoot through with the Intruders, don't forget to use the opportunity to advance the Lunokhod at the same time.

Moran Masai have Repeaters. Although Corregidor doesn't have amazing Hackers this still makes the Masai and extra threat for HI, Remotes and TAGs.

With SpecOps -everyone- can get a BTS-6 hacker! And with the Morans, remotes, and Iguana having a good hacker handy is pretty nice.

Not everything allows spec-ops.

They are a specific ITS format - but not all ITS events will allow them. Just as not all ITS will be 400pt events.

They are fine for a campaign setting, though.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
