I am not 100% sure if this is the right place for this, but seeing as I have already started:
Over the past 2-3 months, I have been talking to several people about a project I have been working on. This project is a rather unique challenge for me, to turn the samurai and ashigaru from Wargames Factory into an effective Imperial guard force. I have had several set backs, primarily in regards to logistics, especially in the form of finding an effective true scale 28mm las rifle for my forces. Another issue is that several people have decided to bash on my ideas, but since there is not really any chance of facing these people on the field, I really don't care. But the biggest issue I have found is that EVERY ONE WANTS ME TO USE SOME CADIAN PARTS! I dislike cadians, they look ugly to my eyes, and the other reason I don't just do like every one is telling me (Glue some cadian arms on and ur set!) is that the proportions are just too much for me.
So, among other things, I present you, the people of Dakka Dakka, with a challenge: if you can find a good 28mm true scale rifle, who's stock can easily be removed, and that looks realitively sci-fi, enough for a force of the guard, or even a lost but recently rediscovered world, then post it.
Also, I haven't decided on a name for this force, though the color scheme is already decided, if not put in to effect due to a lack of the paints I need at this time

I'm not sure what the rant part is about. It's your project. What other people think about it really shouldn't be germane to your enjoyment of it. If you don't like Cadians, don't do Cadians.

Either way, these look pretty good: http://victoriaminiatures.highwire.com/product/5-laser-rifles

It's made of resin so removing whatever parts you don't like should be trivial.

Thanks clively, that is a very good option, though I thought that they were 28mm heroic, not 28mm true
And I do apologize for the ranting, I have a slight tendency to do that

I was curious if anyone tried using shapeways LK-47's?
