Subject: New horde guy, starting with trolbloods

Hi all,
My friend has got me into hordes and I really like trolbloods. I want to try using captain gunnbjorn. As my first lock, but I'm working on getting some lists together as a basis to know what to buy. Please pick apart and tell me whats what as I want to learn
Right I am aiming to a 35pt force as it seems a good game size.
So if I went,
Captains Gunnbjorn
Troll Impaler x 2 10 pt
Troll bouncer 5pt
Slag troll 6
Troll bomber 10 ( but 5 using war beast allowance from bjorn I think )
This isn't quite 35 points so I am just wondering how this would work to start, how could I complete something like this? Throw in some more melee meat or perhaps a thumper?
Hope you guys and gals can help me some.
Cheers,

I strongly advise against getting Gunnbjorn as your first warlock. He is very challenging for even veteran players.
I'd start with either Madrak or pDoomshaper at first.
As for your list, it lacks any real high damage output. Shooting is really a prelude to melee and usually used to soften a target up, but it almost never kills a hard target.
For a 35 point list, I'd go with the following.
pDoomshaper
-Mauler
-Bomber
-Axer
-Impaler
-Trollkin Runebearer
min Krielstone Bearer and scribes.
max Kriel Warriors with UA and 1 Caber thrower.
This gives you some credible melee threat in the Mauler and Axer. The Axer's animus also helps to deliver the Mauler to a target, he can also clear infantry with his Thresher *attack.
The Bomber and Impaler have synergy from the Impaler sniping the Bomber to give him an 18" threat on his bombs. And the Impaler has a respectable ranged attack too.
The Runebearer is there to support Doomshaper's spell casting.
The Krielstone protects your army as you advance up the field by giving an armor buff.
The Kriel Warriors are there to screen the army and deal with any enemy infantry that might try to do the same. They're basically a meatshield. And the Caber can mess things up for your opponent too, slam and knockdown an enemy heavy so your mauler can finish it off.

Thanks for the response.
I see what your saying about having no real hard hitters. Could I not work around the list to gain the melee and ranged balance needed?
I was thinking of hoarluk but I just couldn't decide and thought I made up my mind with bjorn lol.

I agree that Gunnbjorn is a difficult caster to start out with. He isn't really difficult to play, he is just so static and the models you will buy for him will not translate very well to other lists. That being said, I started with gunnbjorn and have seen some players swear by using gunnbjorn just for his gun, snipe and wall and not building a list around him. All of this is in a non-competitive environment though. Simply put, he is one of our least competitive casters.
But if you really want to start gunnbjorn You absolutely need a combination of melee and range. I swear by long riders in a gunnbjorn list because they can slam themselves and not get knocked-down because of the feat. A blitzer might also be a good generic choice, with a damage buff you will crack some heavies.
Ultimately, you are going to want an Earthborn or a Mauler for other lists so you might want to think about starting out with a list that uses them both.
Pgrim is good with about everything. If you really want a caster who can support a range/melee list, this might be up your alley.

Pgrim specializes in board control but you can learn quickly, I prefer Egrim as he is a blast and loots fantastic.
