While painting the top section of a Rhino I've found that I've made really noticeable brush streaks. How would you advise I fix it and how to avoid this?

Thanks!

Sounds like your paint is to thick. Pics might help us understand what is wrong. Maybe try a wetpallete with a Matte Medium to help with blending pigments.

Give this article a read: http://fromthewarp.blogspot.com/2012/01/7-tips-for-painting-vehicles-without.html

Bottom line is, use a large brush and thin paint.

I've just finished painting my first Rhino and I can definitely echo Scooty on this one. I'd read the same article he's provided (But way back before this thread), and it does help a great deal. You're gonna hate it, but thinning your paints down goes a long way in reducing brush marks - it'll just take longer. I'd also suggest, obvious as it sounds, but when brushing, try to use as long a stroke as possible, and all in the same direction, as that will reduce the build up of pigment in lines across flat surfaces. Using as thin paint as you can get away with, try to draw the pigment to the edge of the armour plate so it doesn't leave unsightly blobs afterwards. Also, as Scooty has mentioned, a large brush is better a it'll hold more paint, allowing you to brush it all out smooth before it dries. That's it really - hope this helps.

Yep, blobs have also occurred. I've been using a GW large drybush so the brush size isn't the issue guess I'd better strip it and start again.

Before you strip it, If I were you, I'd put up a picture of it so the rest of us can help you some more. I'd also suggest that you don't use the Big Drybrush. That drybrush, I've got one as well, is designed with coarser bristles so that they don't bend easily and are more resistant to heavy duty drybrushing. However, this coarseness also means that the paint won't be applied as smoothly, as the bristles don't apply the paint evenly. I'd suggest, if you have others in the citadel range, using the basecoat - or large brush. The bristles on these are finer, but they also have a larger 'belly' allowing you to hold more paint and spread it more evenly. I'd hazard a guess that the majority of your problems are related directly to the use of the GW Large Drybrush. It may sound counter-intuitive after I said 'large brush' in my first post, but I meant 'large' not 'gigantic'

Sadly I lack a decent enough camera to show the streaks and blobs. Maybe the brush is an issue then! Thanks.

One other issue is painting my troops I've heavily used drybrushing hashnut copper over tin bits to highlight flat surfaces and it looks good to my eyes, not perfect but good. On the Rhino's bigger flat surfaces it looks god awful.

Any suggestions on what I should do instead of drybrushing?

I wish I could take photo's but I don't have access to a decent camera.

Less paint on the brush and brush lightly. Also try washing after dry brushing helps some.
