It may not seem like that big of a deal, but when Im building my list (IG w/GK allies), I really wish that GK Coteaz was Battle Brothers with IG. The way it is now if i take Coteaz as my HQ for allied GKs I cant use his physic abilities on my blob. It would really help me if I could because then my allied GK troops would be so much cheaper. Is there anything out there that changed Coteaz from GK being battle brothers with the people he is in from Inquisition?? Thanks

I always press dat, if you know what I mean.

No nothing changes this.
If taken from Codex: Grey Knights, he's NOT a battle brother.

Out of curiosity, if you are building IG with grey knight allies why bother with the GK version of coteaz? Is it so you can take one of the 4 assassins?

One reason is that I dont have that many IG models yet, waiting for the new dex to come out before I buy more! The other is I thought it would be cool to hide a techpriest with Ordinal Bombarment in a blob and surround it three autocannon dreadnoughts.

Also the point of this thread is that I think Coteaz helps a blob so much so it would be cool if I could use him as my allied GK hq to save me some points

Actuall GK were going to be my primary in that army

You know you can just take IG, gk, and inq with the list being legal?

Inquisition doesn't take up the allied detachment.

Yeah this.

You could just tac on Coteaz for 100 points from Codex: Inquisition and then he'd be BB with your IG. No need to take anything else from it and your allied slot is still free to take a Grey Knight detachment.

GK Coteaz (Not Battle Brother): 100 points

Inquisition Coteaz (Battle Brother): 100 points

If your talking about just replacing the HQ your required to take with GK and you wanted Coteaz to fill that slot, then just take a bland inquisitor for 25 points, or add atleast rad and psychotroke grenades as you can attach that to your IG blob.

Inquisition Coteaz (Battle Brother): 100 points

GK Coteaz (Not Battle Brother) 100 points plus mandatory Troops choice.

In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Well ofcourse he has to take GK troop choices, kinda figured he use those points cause he said he wanted GK allies.

Haha sorry didnt mean to soound like a dick. Obviously i know Coteaz costs the same so yeah i waa talking about the points needed for the GK hq. Also in my wish list GK are the primary so have Coteaz from the GK codex as a BB for my IG would allow me to take henchman for my primary troops and save me a lot of points. GK troops are expensive

You could just take two Coteaz's.

Nothing says you can't and now you have two awesome undercosted heros.

Or just take bland inquisitors with Mastery level 1 if you gotta have that prescience.

I mean if you just want troop choice henchmen it doesn't matter which list coteaz is in basically.

Not necessarily true. According to one school of thought, the only thing you look at to determine if two special characters are the same, is the name. Since Inquisitor Coteaz is the same name as Inquisitor Coteaz, you can only take one.

The other school is that as long as there is a difference (and between the two there are a couple of differences), then they are not the same and as such, GW screwed up and while you may technically be able to take 2, it is clearly not intended.

Either way this thread just proves how dumb the FOC restrictions and Allies tables have gotten too.
