What is the best way to kit out an Inquisitor for
A: Support for units
B: Shooty
C: Assault

Generally depending on my lists, I will run either

Ordo Mallus with termie armour, to deepstrike in with a unit of terminators

Ordo Xenos with plasma pistol, power armour and conversion beamer, sitting in the backfield

Ordo Hereticus with Liber Hereisus, inferno pistol and power sword. Generally scouting up with a dead cheap unit to the nearest ruin and stay in cover, as a cheap distraction unit.

All have 3 servo skulls

What can I do to get the most out of different inquisitors with better builds?

You're rich! You're flashy! You 'ave a proppa Orky stoutness about your belly! And you've got more big, shooty, and dead 'ard gear than any 2 other Orks put together. Da uvver clans orta make way for da Bad Moons!

Ordo Xeno is best in mellee. I'd even say gamebreaking with his nades. Depends on who you play

Close combat is kind of a tossup between Xenos INQ with all his combat buffs, or Mallus INQ with his daemon Hammer and Terminator armor.

Shooty, I stick with a Mallus with Psycannon and Terminator armor with divination for reliable shooting for himself and his unit.

Support, perhap trying a Herticus INQ with psyocculus and divination, and a combi-plasma

Yeah, telling people how this and that is 'garbage' and they should just throw their minis into the trash as they're not as efficient as XYZ.

So the solution is to lie and pretend that certain options are effective so people will feel better?

In order of best to worst.

A:
Coteaz
Xenos
Hereticus
Malleus
Karamazov
Valeria

B:
Coteaz / Karamazov
Malleus
Valeria
Hereticus / Xenos

C:
Coteaz / Malleus
Valeria
Karamazov
Xenos
Hereticus

I quick threw that together, so there could be factors I am leaving out...

Xenos with Hammerhand and Rad grenades is ridiculously good at buffing an assault unit. That combo makes guardsmen wound MEQ on a 3+ (Or DCAs on a 2+). None of the inquisitors are that amazing in an assault 1 on 1, so really the guy that buffs his unit better is the clear winner here. He's also the only one that can take a power sword and not suck.

Hereticus has a niche in a shooty unit in that he can use the psyocculum to give 3 plasma cannon servitors (and everyone else) while shooting at a unit containing psykers. Unfortunately LOS! Counters this pretty effectively.

I agree with the above points...but this is why I gave them points for support and not individual assaultyness and shooting.
