Hi English 40k players,
I am a French 40k player and i come to you because the ion shield of the Imperial knight may suffer from a translation mistake.

The english rule says : '......... The Knight has a 4+ invulnerable save against all hits on that facing until the start of your opponent's next Shooting phase. ......'

In french, the word 'hits' refers to the successful dice roll on the BS, meaning that Imperial knight can uses his 4+ invulnerable save after successful dice roll on the BS and a cover save against glancing/penetrating hits. In my opinion it's really unusual and problably comes from a translation error.

Could you tell me how do you use the Ion shield? Do you use ion shield save AND cover save or the best save from ion shield OR cover?

It is a hard debate and i think that english players can easily close it

PS : sorry for my english
PS2 : DAMN I POST IN WRONG SECTION, HOW CAN I MOVE THE TOPIC?

I think it would be over turned by the BRB stating that you can only make one type of save per turn (FNP not included) and it must be the best one you have available.

Ion Shield is an invulnerable save, which follows the normal rules for armor/cover saves, with the exception that it is only applied to a specific facing chosen at the start of your opponent's shooting phase. Other than the variable facing rule, its the same as any other model: use the best save.

Thanks for your answer.

So it's seems obvious that the best save between invulnerable or cover has to be chosen. Because the French version may suggest that it works like an Holo-field Eldar.

Thanks for clarification.
