Scenario:
The relic, in this game represented by a zoanthrope.

Deployment:
Hammer and Anvil

The orks deployed all the way up to the edge of their zone, with the nob-trukks in the middle of the wall of vehicles. The Space Wolves deployed their long fangs in the back and the Blood Claws and Thunderwolf Cavalry up front. In reserves for the orks is the Dakkajet and on the Space Wolf side the three Drop Pod units containing the Grey Hunters, the Rune Priests and the Dreadnought. The Tau-drone is a servo-skull.

Orks, turn 1

In the movement phase all the ork vehicles moved up the board. After this game I really learned the value of rams on ork vehicles since half my force would have been immobilized otherwise. The Weridboy also decided to teleport himself and the meganobs straight into the Space Wolf deployment zone and leaving one empty trukk.

In the shooting phase all the vehicles moved flat out. I incorrectly ran with my meganobs, that’s why they are spread out in the picture. This was corrected afterwards.

Space Wolves, turn 1

The Grey Hunter drop pods came in and all of them scattering quite far from their intended locations. The Blood Claws and the Thunderwolf Cavalry moved in to assault the trukks.

In the shooting phase the Long Fangs focused on the meganobs and killed the entire unit except from one meganob with one wound left. The Grey Hunters shot one trukk to death and in the assault phase, the Thunderwolf Cavalry and the Blood Claws pounded two more into oblivion, resulting in two exploded trukks and one wreck.

Orks, turn 2

In the Orks second movement phase, the Battlewagons moved into position to unload buckets of dice. The surviving slugga boys from the broken trukks moved in to assault and the nob-unit jumped into the now empty meganob-trukk and moved downfield into the enemy deployment zone. The unharmed slugga-trukk tankshocked 6” into the Blood Claws before unloading the boys who moved into assault the bunched up unit. The Dakkajet failed to enter.

In the shooting phase the Battlewagons softened up one of the Grey Hunter units down to three men and the nob-trukk moved flat out deeper into the Space Wolf deployment zone, sneaking in behind the ruins.

In the assault phase the last surviving meganob stripped 2 hull points of the Vindicator and stunned it, the slugga boys took out the Thunderwolf cavalry to a high cost of casualties but faired beter against the Blood Claws who fled down towards the table edge.

Space Wolves, turn 2

The Dreadnought showed up from reserves and landed right behind a Battlewagon. The lascannon Long Fangs moved into assaultrange from the rampaging Meganob and the healther Grey Hunter unit kept advancing towards the relic. The Surviving thrre Blood Claws rallied and moved back towards the Slugga Boys that had broken them.

In the shooting phase the Dreadnought easily got rid of the Batlewagon in front of it, the explosion killing half the unit inside and the healthy Grey Hunters finished of the rest of the unit. The smaller Grey Hunter unit shot up the slugga boys hiding behind on of the Trukks and they broke and ran for the edge.

In the assault phase the Long Fangs assaulted the meganob and failed to hurt it. The meganob focused its attacks on the Vindicator still in base contacts with it and wrecked it. The Blod Claws finished of the Slugga Boys and stayed camping out in the forest.

Orks, turn 3

The Dakkajet shows up and lines up for a nice reararmour view of the Dreadnought. One of the Battlewagons pushes down into Space Wolf deployment zone to camp on the linebreaker objective while the other Batlewagons lines up next to the relic. The nob-trukk moves up and unloads its contents next to the Long Fangs and the other functioning Truk tank shocks into the Blood Claws who easily moves aside. The fleeing slugga boy and his nob keeps running.

In the shooting phase, I call the Waaagh! and the Dakkajet easily ends the Dreadnought. The remaining Battlewagon-boys keep shooting away at the Grey Hunter squads put only manage to pick of a couple of marines.

In the assaultphase the Nob-squad stupidly assaults into the big prescience Long Fang unit and are easily executed by them, whie taking of a couple of missile launchers along the way.

Space Wolves, turn 3

In the movement phase the two weakened Grey Hunter units keep moving toward the relic, one of them taking control of the previously unoccupied quadgun.

In the Shooting phase, the quad gun blows up the Dakkajet and the other Grey Hunter squad shots the running shootaboyt in the back, leaving the lone nob running still. Both of the weakened Long Fang units unload against the Batlewagon camped next to the relic and manage to immobilize it.

In the assaultphase, the Blood Claws strip two hull points from the Trukk that tankshocked them.

Orks, turn 4

The shootaboys next to the relic jumps out and seizes it. The empty nob-trukk tankshocked one of the Long Fangsunits of the board but was wrecked by the other. The other empty trukk tried the same manouvre but was also stopped by the Long Fangs and blew up. The lone nob keeps running.

In the shooting phase the exposed shootaboys finish of one of the Grey Hunter squads while the other Battlewagon and its contents fail to wipe the other squad.

Space Wolves, turn 4

With the relic seized the Space Wolves feel the urgency of the scenario and advances towards it with the remaining Grey Hunters and Blood Claws.

In the Shootingphase the entirey Space Wolf army unleashed everything it has against the Shoota unit with the relic and manages to kill half of it.

Orks, turn 5

The Shoota Boys takes the relic with them and embarks into the immobilized Battlewagon. The lone Nob keeps running.

In the shootingphase all the Shoota Boys from both the Battlewagons try to finish of the Grey Hunters but fail.

Space Wolves, turn 5

Hoping for a sixth turn, the Grey Hunters keep advancing towards the immobilized Battlewagon containing the relic.

The Long Fangs and the Grey Hunter holding the quad gun try to blow up the Battlewagons side armour but fail.

The game ends with Space Wolves having first blood and slay the warlord, but the Orks holding onto the relic, an Ork victory.

Lesson learned from this game: never assault into a prescienced unit of Long Fangs. Not ever.

Fun report. My only suggestion is to take some close up photographs of the action. Would be good to see some of the combats in full size

Thx for the replies. For future batreps I'm gonna take close ups of assaults and start using the flash.

Cool! The only thing that's odd to me is that there are no pk nobz in battlewagonz. They're really better off in bw-s than truckmobs

nooo, please don't! Flash makes your photos really ugly and flat. Just play in a room that's well lit, and read this!: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/439793.page

Dakka is the ork word for shooting, but the ork concept of shooting is saturation fire. Just as there is no such thing as a "miss" in a target-rich environment, there is no such thing as a "dodge" in a bullet rich one
