So, Ubisoft have just released a teaser for the next AC game - 'Unity'. Following on from their AC: Liberation and AC: Black Flag theme of Freedom, this game promises to be set during the French Revolution of 1789-1799. There are rumours going round of a second release exclusive to last-gen consoles, but lets stick to AC: Unity.
I'll start the ball rolling by saying that personally, I'm hoping the storyline will expand out of the French Revolution, and into the titanic effort of Napoleon Bonaparte to conquer Europe and found the 1st French Empire. After their portrayal in AC: Liberation and AC: Black Flag, I'm rather hoping an expansion like this would see the British, as part of the Coalition Alliance against Napoleon, portrayed in a better light, with the inclusion of some of the more colourful characters of the period such as William Pitt the Younger, Arthur Wellington, Horatio Nelson and Charles Fox. Not to mention the vast plethora of world-changing events, technologies, people and, of course, battles that shaped the world as we know it today. But that's just my opinion - my question to you is, what would you like to see in Assassin's Creed: Unity?
I'm hoping Robespierre becomes a Templar or at least a very corrupt assassin. I can't imagine either him or Napoleon being assassins. King Louie will probably also be a Templar.
Really want Assassins Creed 5.5 in the Napoleonic Wars, but thats for a another time
In reality this should have been Assassins Creed 3, and all that faffing around with pirates and stabbing brits was just that, faffing around. So about bloody time.
I'd be suprised if they pass up Napoleon being a Templar, at least even if i's another game. The man was a complete meglomaniac. I'm not saying he wasn't brilliant - he was one of the finest generals that lived (And as an Englishman, that pains me to say it ), but he did attempt to conquer all of Europe, with forays into Africa and attempts at India, all with a view to crowning himself the Emperor of Europe. If Napoleon isn't Templar material, I don't know what is.
As for the guillotine - why hide it? I want executions in all their glory (and gory ).
I think I'd like to see a greater variety of weapons myself. Black Flag was good, but pretty much all the swords were made-up cutlass varieties, with a couple of exceptions such as the Scottish Broadswords. However, by the French Revolution, armies are beginning to become standardised and weaponry was constantly being reviewed and re-issued to armies. Hence, there's going to be a lot of different types of sword around - from sabres, to infanty swords, to broadswords etc. The same goes for firearms. I liked Blag Flags pistols, but I was constantly wishing for Ezio's crossbow (Being a prime 'sniper' weapon) - I'm hoping AC: Unity brings in the ability to carry some sort of cavalry carbine around - slower to reload, but more potent and with a longer range than a pistol.
