Yeah...
....any help making the next one less derpy would be nice. Haven't decided what to base him on yet, I was leaning towards the standard desert theme.

Those who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. Need more light in the picture

Some basic highlight on the edges of the armor will have a huge impact on the overall appearance of the figure and the best part is the you can still add them to this guy without having to start over.

Your marine looks good, the picture is kinda dark so hard to see if face and some of the other details. main thing I can really see that would help you would be thinning your paints down. (make them the consistency of milk) This will help out immensely and give you a much smoother surface. The model is great for tabletop standards though so feel proud of that! Aside from the thinning of your paints, highlighting will help bring out the edges and really take it up a level and paint in the eyes. Keep up the good work!

Opps wrong pic, this should be a bit brighter [img]

How do i thin the GW paints? just put some water in with the paint in the pallet and mix it?
I don't get how you can highlight a flat surface either, do i just paint everything BUT the joints in the armour?
also eyes will be painted in next pic forgot they even existed

The best way to look at highlighting is to pick out the sharp or raised edges, for instance the pauldrons jave raised edges. Take a lighter paint and pick out the raised lip of it. Also paint the edges around the joints. If you are feeling brave you could also highlight ridges on the joints of the armour.

Hope thats of some use.

So is this what you mean by highlighting the edges?

also that painting looks very blotchy up close, hopefully no one will notice mid game.

I just painted a lighter green across the 'lip' of the armor and exhaust-backpack-thingies.
