Hey all, I picked up a Crimson Slaughter book after not playing for a few months and decided to make some lists that have some potential to win games (but not tournament competitive). I'm a Khorne-y/Nurgle-y guy myself, so I'd rather not take Slaaneshy things (okay with Tzeentch). Here's the lists:

Crimson Slaughter
1497
Lord 65, MoK, Juggernaut , Blade of the Relentless, Slaughter Horns, Daemonheart , sigil of corruption
Sorc, Lvl 2

30 Cultists
20 Possessed
10 CSM, 1 plasma, 1 melta, Rhino

Heldrake

2 Oblit, MoN
2 Oblit, MoN

Tactics: Lord runs with Possessed, who have a chance to be as fast as him or get some nice saves. Sorc runs with cults, they can either camp or tar pit something while he buffs things with Telepathy. Oblits pop whatever vehicles there are or anything giving the lord too much trouble. CSM is there to provide some needed ranged support and the rhino is there to be a 1st turn "shield". I used to run a AoBF Jugg lord, who has never failed me before, but I think the 2+/4++, IWND will significantly make him stronger at the cost of the extra attacks he got from axe. Any tips, suggestions, comments?

Looks like a good list. I hate the Possessed because they are so overpriced, but they will certainly do some damage as a unit of 10. Too bad they have to hoof it there.

In the embrace of great Chaos, I am no longer afraid, for with its power and favor, I shall become the embodiment of that which I once most feared.....Death

Chaos Space Marines: W50, L23, D17
Warriors of Chaos: W15, L2, D0
CSM 6th Edition: W19, L6, D3
CSM 7th Edition: W17, L2, D2
Kill Team: W2, L0, D0

I don't know that much, but... I'd drop some kit from the Lord, and give Balestar to the Sorc. ?

Late entry:I'd likely also lose 10 Poss. and add in some more marines, probibly with transport.

Asked for no Slaanesh units in this army, but the lord did well as is, getting in 23 saves before going down (this is us forgetting that my units cause fear). Losing some possessed is a possibility, since they did fail me in a game I played, but it might've been some bad saving throws/good shooting. Did notice the significant loss in attacks between the relentless sword and the AoBF though.

There is nothing Slaanesh about that. He is sugesting the Balestar of Mannon for Divination, whish is amazing for C:CS. I love my Possesed and usually run them with a Possesed lord, but thats me. very similar to the list I run.

I'd make the possessed mark of tzeentch, or khorne, depending on the opponent. The 4++ is really nice when you're up against termies and the like. The rage is just nice for killing . I'd actually split them into two groups, one with MOT one with MOK so you can choose your targets and specialise more.
I'd actually do the same for the oblits, as T5 is pretty useless when they get a 2+ save against anything that would be affected by it.
What role do you have for your sorcerer? As if you don't have much to do with him I'd replace him with a dark apostle to stick with the cultists

Just my two cents

I find that MoN for oblits is always worth it, as for possessed, MoT means if they roll a 5/6 on the possessed table they get a nice 2+ inv save, which is cool.

I'm afraid they don't. It says in the codex it can only stack to 3++, which sucks, but as far as I know there aren't any models in 40k with a 2++ are there?

LOL there are a few,

1) any model in the DE codex with a shadow field
2) screamers of tzeentch with a herld who has grimore (which happens to be a re rollable 2+ inv)
3) gassy from the orkz codex (his waagh makes his armour save his inv for a turn)
4) space marine relic armour gives the wearer a 2+ inv for a turn in addition to artificer (2+ AS)

I will think of more.

Doesn't Ghaz go 2++ on Waaagh!?

Also, does a Riptide power up to 2++ or 3++?

That's what I said, Ghaz thrak gets a 2+ inv on the turn he declares his waagh!

Also the riptide with shield and nova charge only gets a 3+ inv.
