Hello everyone, after many months of searching for a suitable second army for my Elysian Drop Troops I was sitting down discussing with my mates which xenos faction I should consider doing as I have a very bad habit of making up my mind. During the conversation my buddy mentioned "Why not just do another different Guard army? You always have loved playing them." Lets just say that advice has inspired me to build yet another bad ass Forgeworld Regiment, the Death Korps of Krieg. And after seeing the winter themed paint job done here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/273313-Engineers.html?m=2 and also here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/273314-Leman%20Russ%20Vanquisher.html?m=2 I was completely hooked on the project.

I am giving my Armored Company the title of the 7th Armored Division or "Ghost Division" named after Erwin Rommel's Panzer Division that so successfully used the Blitzkrieg tactic against the French and English in early WWII. Both fitting in regards to the history of the name and the winter theme I will be going with, that and ALOT of tanks. Now I had tried a list on other forums found here: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288456-2000pts-armored-company-ia-one-2nd-edition/ but taking their advice I have re-looked through Imperial Armor 1 Second Edition and rebuilt the list to what I hope to be a more Competitive build as I want this army to be competitive but fluffy. As usual any comments, thoughts and posts on this are very much appreciated. Thanks for posting guys!

HEAVY SUPPORT:

Allied Imperial Guard

-Company Command Squad

-Infantry Platoon
*w/ PCS, x4 Squads of Infantry

TOTAL ARMY: 2000 POINTS

Model Count:

-x9 Leman Russ Variants
-x1 Hydra
-x50 Infantry

Tactics:

-My Warlord Command Tank will be designated Gunboat putting a lot of Dakka down field able to deal with all kinds of infantry, light to medium armor and Monstrous Creatures. Plus he is BS4 making the Exterminator that much more worth taking. Also in a pinch will be utilized to help deal with flyers if needed to.

-The x2 Commissar Tanks and x1 Command Tank are my designated Anti Armor, Monstrous Creature and Heavy/Elite units (like Broadsides and Terminators) hunters. They have a Co-Axil Heavy Stubber (which does the same thing an Eldar Scatter Laser does, if I hit with it I can make one other gun on the tank Twin Linked) and Beast Hunter Shells. Beast Hunter Shells are S8 AP2 Small Blast and cause Instant Death, meaning with these bad boys I could potentially one shot a Wraithknight! Also they are BS4 so with three of these guys I will be able to take on lots of scary stuff and put it down.

-x3 Leman Russ Battle Tanks and x2 Leman Russ Eradicators forming the backbone of my army. The Eradicators will be my Anti-Infantry Specialists while my Leman Russ Battle Tanks will provide blast template goodness wherever they are needed, they are the "balanced" core of my army.

-A total of x45 Scoring Infantry with a Company Command Squad. These guys will be most likely starting in reserve, coming on to move up behind my Leman Russ wall to take and hold objectives.

-x2 Hydra Flak Tanks for Anti-Air and Skimmer duties, there are a high number of Eldar players at my store (Hence Wraithknights reference wit my Vanquishers) so the ability to take down their Wave Serpents will be huge as well to take down scary flyers such as Vendettas.

all i can say is i like this list and may steal the idea's behind it. being a fellow tread head. the only thing i would say is you do lack AA power. i am not a fan of the hydra anymore as the fact is i roll really badly with snap shots. and personally would take either a vendetta or maybe a vulture but that is purely personal preference.

Was debating a Vendetta or a Vulture as well, Just would have to drop the side Sponsons off the Eradicators and could afford a Vulture with either a TL-Lascannon or TL-Missile Lauuncher, just galls me I am 5pts. away from a Vendetta and CANT find the points unless I turn one of my Eradicators into a Leman Russ!

Why would you be firing Snap Shots at flyers with a Hydra?

no hydra's snap fire at anything that isn't a flyer/skimmer. so when you face a list with neither of those my shooting with it makes it a total waste of points.

Made a very good point with addressing the lack of anti-air. I was able to tweak a few points around to solve the problem and the above list has been changed, let me know what you think!

seems okay. taking the lancastrian square approach. 2 tanks are 4 times better then one.
