FNP is hilarious on a greater daemon as is +1 wound and
IWND and/or re-roll failed invulnerable saves. If push comes to shove, the Balesword is way better than the Eternal Blade anyway.
I love running my
GUO, generally my opponent blows every gun in the army at him and fails to down him. 2 greater rewards and ML3 is the way to go. Roll on biomancy and if you like what you have, try a spin on the nurgle table! The large blast AP2 is amazing, and the primaris can be pretty awesome as well. The best part about the rewards, is if you don't like what you get, like you said, Balesword! Good by
HQ, wraithknight, riptide, whatever, it is dead! Always roll your warlord trait first, no need to double up on instant death.
My favorite style nurgle list is close to
GUO, ml3, 2 greater, maybe a lesser for fun.
Herald w/
FnP and portal glyph for back field objective
15PB for herald unit
15 for whatever
10 with instrument
4 drones, icon, character with lesser
4 drones, icon, character with lesser
Soul grinder of nurgle

That leaves you with a lot of wiggle room to mess around with too. Throwing in additional heralds, or more
PBs. I can't remember if there was an
FAQ about chaining the icons off the drones, but I think you still can. 1 instrument usually gets my
GUO asap on the table with 2 shots at a +3 reserve roll. He lands, unloads any weapons he might have from rewards or powers, then soaks up an entire army of shooting. Next turn he goes to work. If he dies (rarely), you just got a free turn to move and do whatever because your opponent wasted everything on one dude.
