Hello everyone

I am new to all this and have run into a problem with my hellbrute model from the dark vengeance set

whenever i try to assemble it the two main halves of the body do not fit together cleanly..

i have checked to see if there is anything blocking the places where it meets but there doesn't seem to be any problems..

the body fits together at the top ok but there are gaps at the bottom and the legs..

i have a fair amount of glue on it now too where i have had to take it apart again a few times :(

i have used plyers to try to hold it together whilst gluing in once place but it comes apart again :( i am using revell contacta plastic glue

Check to make sure there are no remaining bits of sprue near the mating surfaces... And get the extra glue out of there

Good luck!

Rubber bands, a couple of rubber bands wrapped tightly will hold a piece together until the glue sets.
I actually remember assembling the DV hellbrute and from memory I glued the two halves together at one point only then once set I applied glue to the separated sections and bound them together. Worked pretty well.
But rubber bands will help hold pieces together with little hassle.

thanks both

i will definitely have a good look, snip out any protruding parts / glue mess and the try the rubber bands, annoyingly i have mounted him on the base already which will make it difficult :(

Oh come on you don't like the dark vengeance snap fit models. the whole set is wonderful accept for that part cause it's going to be a nightmare for my to paint since I'm still trying to figure out how to prevent the gaps when I put the models together. Plus I agree rubberbands and less glue works well or just get some of the gamesworkshop paint on green stuff. Wait they still make that right sorry I have washes older than some people.

Cheers and good luck.

Most modellers use epoxy putty to fill in caps, usually on metal figures but also with plastics.

It is very important to remove every single mold line or flash from the miniatures.

Learn from your mistakes and always do a dry fit of these larger components.
Careful shaving, clipping, filing and filling is often necessary to get a snug fit.
Only when the bits marry properly should you add glue.
Looking at this particular kit i'll wager that the pegs and holes that join the two halves of the main body together are either too long or tight.
You'll have a job sorting it now that its on the base, good luck.
Hope this helps.

I seem to recall having shaved down the pegs and then using a quick clamp to pull/hold the halves together.

See if the gap is such that the model can flex to fill it, then use rubber bands. This is how people do model plane fuselages and such.

If the model can't flex to fill the gaps, you can try shaving the high part of the join that's causing the gaps, if the part looks bent you can very carefully try and bend it back (large plastic bits are prone to bending in the box and then not lining up).

If none of that works, just glue it and fill the gaps with greenstuff (personally I think liquid greenstuff is crap, some people like it though, I just use the 2 part greenstuff). Greenstuff is the sort of putty you can mould easily before it cures but it's hard to clean up later, so it's best to get it looking spot on while it's still soft. There are other putties that are the opposite, harder to mould initially but easier to clean up with knives and sand paper.

Many of the Hellbrutes on the DV set are really warped, had to put mine in hot water and wrap absurd amount of rubber bands around it to get it to fit.

Probably to do with the huge volume of that kit that they pump out during any one run.
If they rush and take them out 'hot' then they're bound to warp.
Glad it's getting a bit better for you though.
Keep at it.
