So I was thinking of making a 'speedy' hover-vehicley Tau list just for fun and now I wonder how bad/good is this list? (I bet it's fundamentally broken)
I don't have much knowledge on Tau.

if you see any tweaks/major overhauls that could improve the list fire away, but the theme should still be intact.
If you're a WAAC player or just want to build brutally competetive lists, avert thine eyes!
Here it goes

about 1500 pts

Just a Cadre fireblade as HQ

2 units of Fire warriors, both with Devilfish APC's so they'll stick with the theme
one unit of 12 and the other of 11 so the Fireblade can sit with them.

5 goddamn Pirhanas in a squad, upgrades?

2 Sun shark bombers, TL-missile pods

2 hammerhead gunships, twin-linked smart missile systems, 2x seeker missiles.



aaaand at 1500 pts that's about it.

Check out Barracudas from FW instead of the bombers. It's a much stronger flyer, though I don't know how much more or less they are points wise compared to the Sun Shark. Barracudas fly around and rock a freaking Ion Accelerator. 'Tis dope.

oh nice, really liking the design of the Tau flyers. ^^

I like the idea, have a think about this though:

1. Your HQ and troops are fine.
2. take 2 units of 5 piranhas. just because
3. grab some forgeworl tetras, basically pathfinders with a piranha kitted out with markerlights.
4. then flyers (GW or FW) to taste.

tetras are awesome models and useful in game and to theme.

Oh I like the sound of that.

10 or 15 Pirhanas gotta look totally badass (but what a pain to assemble and paint all of them).
I'm thinking this army could easily have a cool them like a band of renegade tau or 'pirates' or something would be pretty sweet!



Gonna have to look into FW tau stuff more it seems!

If your willing to go forge world, Take a squad of tx-42s you can get TL Fusion, TL plasma, TL light Rail rifles or TL Missle pods on an AV11 fast skimmer. Oh and up to 2 seeker missles, matched with Tetras can be nice. You just lose the drones.

Nice! Though lots of FW would go crazy expensive fast I fear (this army being rather expensive already)...
