where does it say a chaos terminator can deep strike.. I am sure they can but what page is it on.. the guy I just played took chaos termies with a chaos lord upgrade but when I looked under the page for terminators it doesn't say it.. I am not familiar with the chaos codex

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

bit upset because I just went against 1280+ points of chaos in a 1000 point "friendly" battle (3rd in 6th ed) and he smiled, yet gave himself all the buildings, opted for no objectives, no mission, then camped.. and he never did any panic tests on the units that I reduced and that included the termies.. I was cooking the figures in his codex after coming home: in the codex it's at LEAST 1280 points without gear/chaos'y tricks (I am sure they had flak missiles in a havoc squad for example) oh well

Roll for mission, don't let them opt. Chaos lords are fearless meaning he wouldn't need to take panic checks on the terminators while the Lord is attached

why do you let him do that?
forthe point limit, if in doubt ask for his list.
For the rest, why let him choose the terrain, mission and so on?

Vanished Completely

It is always interesting how many claim "Battle scribe told me it was correct" when they are so many points over it is a stretch that they would be oblivious to the error....

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

Wow. You were taken for a ride. I really hate running into people like that.

Until you are more familiar with estimating point values on what you face, ask to see their list. It should be clear on who has what and what each thing cost. Battlescribe and army builder are generally pretty good tools to help.

Also get familiar with game setup and stick with playing it by the book for awhile. Most of it is random, which certainly helps prevent some of the shenanigans.

I never understood the appeal of army builder and such...

I use a folded piece of paper and a pen for my lists. I write them out days before a game. Double check the math the day of.

Never have any problem. Best of all, I can write notes down too with the same paper and same pen.

People like that kill me, why ruin a fun thing. Do make sure to roll for mission type and even roll for terrain, it makes the game a lot more interesting when you have to work with a different scheme every game. I would also add in that I might avoid playing said person, same thing happened to me when I got in the hobby so I know your pain.
